Life & Architecture...

Many people are familiar with the word of Architecture. If I wanna describe the subject, architecture is the combination of art and science. Anyway, those who are an architect or studying on the architecture they will be able to relate my given title easily...

There is a misconception among people about architects. People think architects can't do anything except building design which is an entirely wrong concept. The entire course is for 5 years which means you have to spend extra one year to be graduated on architecture that's why this degree is known as Bachelor of Architecture.

Architecture is a vast subject, not only you have to take physical pressure but you have to be capable of taking huge mental pressure as well. I have seen many people's opinion, most of the people think anyone can do design, nowadays if you search on internet, you will get massive design ideas...Also, you will get manpower easily and can decorate your own house...Where is the creativity exactly, everything is on the internet...

If I concentrate on the way of people's thoughts, focus their opinion, then I would say there is no need for 5 years course, you can do a 1-year course and become an architect... LOL...

I don't know how many theoretical courses I have completed so far, but I guess it was more than 45. When I read the history of architecture, not only I came to know about the history but also I was shocked to know the creative level of people. Nowadays, we can see everything on the internet but 20-30 years ago, internet was not available for everyone... Then how those architects were born, were they born with some kind of power?

They were born because of observation, because of their way of thinking and perspective. They took inspiration from life, they observed the culture, nature, and people. When I was a first-year student, one of my teachers told me that if you want to be an architect, you have to see the world in a different way, you have to increase your observation level and you have to change your perspective. Trust me, most of the ancient architectural projects built for people, the concept came from people and culture. That's why you can see the large pyramids still now because of pharao's ambitious thoughts. Anyway, if you do research on any old, famous ancient project, you will find the relation between life and architecture.

“Architecture is really about well-being. I think that people want to feel good in a space… On the one hand it’s about shelter, but it’s also about pleasure.”
Zaha Hadid

Now the question is from where architects take their inspiration?

Easy answer: From life, people and nature...

Nature provides geometry, aesthetic beauty, and inspiration of form. Life provides guidance for solving functions and people provides technology and a basic idea of society... Before the design phase, architects have to survey and have to do all fieldwork to understand the project. Because when you want to design something you have to understand the project and understand the criteria and challenge of the project.

One of the life-lessons I have taken from my architecture life, patience, and never lose hope. I fulfill people's dreams, how I can be hopeless right? Last time, when I showed my portfolio to one of my professors, she was amazed and told me not to stop. Obviously, my life changed a lot after migration, I am away from professional life which means I am away from technology and fieldwork but that doesn't mean I forgot architecture. My vision, my way of thinking life is different and more often I argue with my dad, and with some of my friends who are not from an architectural background.

I personally feel all people who are connected with creative world, their thoughts are different. General people say, you guys are weird but I say, I am little bit different from you...

Frank Lloyd Wright

Nice post, @priyanarc! 😃

architecture is the combination of art and science.

Eehheheh! I know some Civil Engineers who would disagree. They claim "Architects have no knowledge of science at all and that the buildings they design go against the laws of physics!" 🤣
