I have already told about interesting houses, in particular about the house with chimeras in Kiev, now it is the turn of the Czech capital.

Коли в 2016 році ми побували в Празі, то про «Танцюючий дім» (його ще іноді називають «п'яним») я вже знав. І ось довелося побачити його на власні очі.

When we visited Prague in 2016, I already knew about the "Dancing House" (sometimes called "drunk"). And so I had to see it with my own eyes.

Ця незвичайна будова з'явилася майже в самому центрі Праги, на розі набережної і Ресслової вулиці, в 1996 році. Створили його хорватський архітектор Владо Мілуніч і його канадський колега Френк Гері.

This unusual structure appeared almost in the center of Prague, at the corner of the promenade and Resslova Street, in 1996. It was created by Croatian architect Vlado Milunic and his Canadian counterpart Frank Gary.

Собою цей дім являє адміністративно-офісний будинок, який має 7 наземних і два підземні поверхи. На самому верху розташований французький ресторан, а в самому будинку розташовані офіси декількох міжнародних компаній.

This house is an office building, which has 7 ground and two underground floors. At the top is a French restaurant, and in the house are the offices of several international companies.

«Танцюючий дім» різко контрастує з навколишніми будовами витриманими в архітектурі кінця XIX-XX століть. Дві циліндричні вежі, по суті основні частини будинку, уособлюють собою танцюристів, яких називають жартома «Джинджер і Фред», по імені відомих американських виконавців танцю.

"Dancing House" contrasts sharply with the surrounding buildings in the architecture of the late XIX-XX centuries. The two cylindrical towers, essentially the main part of the house, represent the dancers, who are jokingly called "Ginger and Fred", after the famous American dancers.

Каркас будинку залізобетонний, а для додання незвичайного виду були використані 99 спеціальних фасадних панелей. Фундамент знаходиться на рівні ґрунтових вод і підтримується буронабивною системою, крім цього будинок статично скріплений з двома сусідніми будівлями.

The frame of the house is reinforced concrete, and 99 special facade panels were used to give an unusual look. The foundation is at groundwater level and is supported by a bored system, in addition, the house is statically attached to two adjacent buildings.

Цікаво, що під час початку будівництва «Танцюючий дому», президент Чехії Вацлав Гавел жив неподалік і особисто курирував процес виконання робіт.

Interestingly, at the beginning of the construction of "Dancing House", the President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Havel lived nearby and personally supervised the process of work.

У 1996 році зазначений будинок став переможцем в номінації «Дизайн року» престижної премії американського журналу Time.

In 1996, the house won the "Design of the Year" nomination of the prestigious award of the American magazine Time.
