Saludos Hivers, especialmente a la querida comunidad de @radiohive, que para esta semana nos trae el reto de comentar sobre nuestros animales favoritos, es decir, que esta vez nos toca ir al zoológico, sino físico por motivos de la pandemia, al menos, virtual.
Me he recordado, en efecto, las muchas veces que he ido al parque zoológico de mi ciudad de Barquisimeto, donde hubo un tiempo donde había variedad de especies, existía realmente una riqueza fáunica, pero esto ha sido una de las cosas que también se ha venido deteriorando en la ciudad.
En la siguiente lista, el criterio de selección que he seguido es algunas de las características que tienen estos animales y que, de manera particular, me llaman la atención.

I have indeed remembered the many times I have gone to the zoo in my city of Barquisimeto, where there was a time when there was a variety of species, there was really a wealth of fauna, but this has been one of the things that has also been deteriorating in the city.
In the following list, the selection criteria that I have followed are some of the characteristics that these animals have and that, in a particular way, call my attention.

León
Siempre será el rey de los animales para mí, aun cuando a medida que uno crece descubre que hay otros animales que le superan en determinadas características, como la velocidad, ésta ha sido la creencia que a la mayoría se nos ha inculcado y, por lo menos en mi caso, muchos la mantenemos.
Se gana el puesto de mis favoritos por su imponente figura, su belleza característica, su exquisito pelaje, sus fuertes músculos, sus colmillos largos y afilados y sus letales garras.
Lo que no me agrada de él es su machismo, jajaja, sí, sé que es un antropomorfismo; en efecto, son las leonas las que cazan a las presas, no obstante, será siempre el león el primero en comer y a aquellas les quedaran sólo las sobras.
Lion
It will always be the king of animals for me, even though as you grow up you discover that there are other animals that outperform you in certain characteristics, such as speed, this has been the belief that most of us have been taught and, at least in my case, many of us still maintain it.
It wins the place of my favorites because of its imposing figure, its characteristic beauty, its exquisite coat, its strong muscles, its long and sharp fangs and its lethal claws.
What I do not like about him is his machismo, hahaha, yes, I know it is an anthropomorphism; indeed, it is the lionesses who hunt the prey, however, it will always be the lioness who will be the first to eat and those will be left with only the leftovers.
Águila
Es una animal que me llama mucho la atención, tanto así que, junto al escrito de “Black Eagle” es el símbolo que utilizo en el avatar de mis redes sociales, ya que aspiro siempre a lo más alto, aun sorteando las más diversas dificultades, como las águilas.
Lo que resaltaría de este animal es pues su valentía ante los obstáculos que encuentra durante su existir. De hecho, una de las cosas que me impresiona de él es que cuando llega a la mitad de su longevidad, alrededor de 70 años, pasa por un proceso de renovación que le capacita para seguir con su vida con las mismas fuerzas y energías que antes.
Eagle
It is an animal that calls my attention a lot, so much so that, together with the writing of "Black Eagle" it is the symbol that I use in the avatar of my social networks, since I always aspire to the highest, even avoiding the most diverse difficulties, like the eagles.
What I would highlight about this animal is its courage in the face of the obstacles it encounters during its existence. In fact, one of the things that impresses me about him is that when he reaches the middle of his longevity, around 70 years, he goes through a process of renewal that enables him to continue with his life with the same strength and energy as before.
Elefante
Una de las cosas que me gusta de él es que me traslada un poco a la era de los dinosauros, no sólo por ser el sucesor del Mamut sino también por su gran tamaño. Al mismo tiempo, y paradójicamente, me resulta un animal muy simpático, tal vez por la influencia de películas de mi infancia, como Dumbo, y la afabilidad que transmite por ser un simpático animal de circo.
Lo que quisiera resaltar aquí es su fantástica memoria que aunque puede ser beneficiosa para los humanos a él le lleva a ser literalmente un animal de costumbre, pues, por ejemplo, al ser amarrado a una pequeña estaca durante sus primeros años de vida, ya al crecer, no se escapa, puesto que aun cuando ya no esté sujeto a su estaca, en su memoria guarda el recuerdo de las veces que intentó zafarse y no pudo.
Elephant
One of the things I like about him is that he takes me a little bit back to the age of the dinosaurs, not only because he is the successor of the Mammoth but also because of his great size. At the same time, and paradoxically, I find him to be a very nice animal, perhaps because of the influence of films from my childhood, such as Dumbo, and the affability he transmits for being a nice circus animal.
What I would like to emphasize here is his fantastic memory which, although it may be beneficial for humans, leads him to be literally a regular animal, since, for example, when he is tied to a small stake during his first years of life, as he grows up, he does not escape, since even when he is no longer attached to his stake, in his memory he keeps the memory of the times he tried to escape and could not.
Delfín
Además de ser el animal acuático más hermoso y atractivo, se gana su puesto entre mi top 5 por su inteligencia. Él, pues, me recuerda el respeto que debemos tenerles a todos los animales porque todos, sin excepción, tienen sus respectivas características y cualidades, además de ayudar a mantener la cadena alimenticia.
Nunca he tenido la oportunidad de ver a uno en vivo, sólo por televisión, jajaja, pero sueño con tener algún día esta oportunidad y esperar que sean tan cariñosos como normalmente nos lo presentan.
Dolphin
Besides being the most beautiful and attractive aquatic animal, it earns its place among my top 5 by its intelligence. He therefore reminds me of the respect we must have for all animals because all, without exception, have their respective characteristics and qualities, in addition to helping maintain the food chain.
I have never had the opportunity to see one live, only on television, hahaha, but I dream of having this opportunity someday and hope that they will be as loving as they usually are.
Perro
Finalmente, pero no por eso menos importante el incomparable, el único, el preferido de todos: el perro. Aunque intencionalmente lo he dejado aquí porque – al menos por ahora – no soy amante de tenerlos por mascotas (¿Cómo?, ¿Estás loco, dirán?), déjeme contarle mis razones.
En primer lugar, de pequeño tuve uno que quería mucho, una noche se salió de la casa y lo atropelló un carro, eso debo quedar grabado en mi inconsciente, y no quiere volver a pasar por eso. En según lugar, sufrí la mordida de un perro de una casa que siempre visitaba y allí si conscientemente todavía guardo un poco de recelo por ello.
Esto puede cambiar más adelante, no lo niego; sea como sea lo tendré siempre entre mis preferidos porque sin lugar a dudas – aunque unos más que otros – sí se he podido comprobar que se comportan como un fiel amigo para su dueño.
Dog
Last but not least the incomparable, the only, the favorite of all: the dog. Although I have intentionally left it here because - at least for now - I am not a pet lover (How?, Are you crazy, they will say?), let me tell you my reasons.
In the first place, when I was a child I had one that I loved very much, one night it got out of the house and was hit by a car, that must have been engraved in my unconscious, and I don't want to go through that again. I was bitten by a dog from a house that I always visited and there I still have a little bit of suspicion about it.
This can change later, I do not deny it; however I will always have it among my favorites because without a doubt - although some more than others - I have been able to verify that they behave like a faithful friend to their owner.
