FINALLY!

PIDGEON.jpg

As Professor Farnsworth says, "GOOD NEEEEWWWSS EVERYONE!"
Yes I am shamelessly using a Matt Groening licensed reference to plug my own project!

But seriously, I have good news! My comic Second Wind (the one I launched a Kickstarter for back in August), is finally getting printed! The Kickstarter was not successful, but due to other events at the time that proved to be a blessing rather than a curse.

For the first time since I have been making comics I get the opportunity to approve a proof before it goes to the final print run. This is a small and usually tedious job when being involved in creating comics but it is a milestone for me. This book is 2 years of work and a lot of growth. Seeing it all in its final form is really exciting and also bittersweet. Here is a picture of the proof I just received:

It is exciting for obvious reasons, it is finally physical! But it is bittersweet, as most projects end are, because it exists now in its final form. No more expectations of what it could be, it now just is.

That is a really philosophical way of me saying "ooooh god, I can see a lot of errors and fuck ups" but hey, I was 2 years less developed when I started this story vs where I am now. And because of how much work I put into it a lot of the mistakes that were made shouldn't happen too much again (I hope).

You all are the first to know about this book being printed as I won't share it with the other social media platforms until it is completed. Only because you all are special! I actually, genuinely mean that. You all are a hell of a lot better than Facebook.

I will let you know when the book is available for purchase. I closed down my website after the Kickstarter as I needed to do some reorganizing, but it will be up again soon and hopefully with a store. As I know a lot of you are located outside of the US I will try to work out the best way for international shipping should you be interested in ordering one.

So, I am forcing myself to not nitpick it and let it be as it is. I am proud of it and what it became, and now it is time to move on to better work!

Here are a few images from the story, just so you have some more fun things to look at! Cheers my friends.

Looks great, inspired by the Rats of Nim perhaps? Are you based in NYC?

oooh yeah I can see that connection! I am currently living in Minneapolis, but when I was working on this story I was living in Chicago (about a year and a half ago). This story takes place in Chicago as well.

Wow, that is so exciting! To see such a big project finally come to fruition is always a good feeling, and something like a comic book/graphic novel requires us to pour so much of ourselves into it. It must also be a bit of a strange feeling finally calling it "done"... What to do next?

I just discovered you, thanks to the communities, and can't wait to see more! I'm always excited to discover more comic book artists. I started working on one of my own years ago, and dropped it completely, so now I'm reworking it, and going to give it a proper go.

Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words, and I am also really excited to see some of your work! There are a lot of amazing and helpful people in this community. I highly suggest following @arseniclulluby. He is a comic book professional and provides a lot of real world, practical information on creating comics. Please post your work, old or new, here when you can!

You're quite welcome!
Oh yes, I am a follower of his already. I love his dark sense of humor. lol
I shared an inked drawing a couple days ago, if you wanted to have a look at my comic book style art. And there'll be plenty more coming up. Thanks for the support! 😊
