Comic Book Speculation

Well, we all know comic books speculation isn’t as exciting as Leofinance (Leo’s words, not mine, btw), but the best part about comic book week is that every Tuesday/Wednesday of each week, there is an opportunity to make profit. I personally don’t do that, as I prefer to hold long term for my daughter’s “analog collection” that will remind her of dear old dad someday, but if you did flip books today, I won’t judge you. I have no problem with it, and if you can make it work, I’m all for helping out a little where I can. Case in point – this book:

I pointed this one out two weeks; it’s a 1:25 ratio book that has a beutiufl cover completed by comic artist fans are all about right now. The artist’s name is Rose Besch, and the last two sales on eBay went for $200 USD and $188 USD. That’s a book (with some luck, mind you), that you literally could have walked into to your local comic book store and bought for $25 USD two weeks ago. Again, I’m not saying a lot comic book stores ordered 25 copies of Spider-Woman 9 cover A to get that one issue, but it doesn’t hurt to look, does it?

I still want this book for the Hattie Collection…but prices are too steep right now. Like that Peach Momoko Spider-Gwen last year, I fear I missed the boat on this one. But hey, that’s one good thing about comic books; new books are available today to pick up and speculate on.

So without further ado, let’s dive in:

Let’s get this one out of the way…this book has a cover price for $4 USD. If you see it today, do this: push whoever is in your way out of the way, grab it, and run to the cash register. Buy it, and then run home and put it on eBay with a picture. Why? I don’t know what is going on with this one (low print run, I’m guessing), but the last sale for this book went for almost $300 USD. I mean, who needs to invest in Cardano when you could buy this one today for $4?

There seem to be scams/ashcan type sales on eBay, so this is a weird one. Still, grab it for $4 USD today if you see it.

Good luck everyone! (and please let me know if you find one of these in the wild today)

Sales on this 1:10 ratio are heating up. I literally just tried to snap a copy for $16 USD, went to check it out and it was gone. No lie, it then showed up as a buy now option for $25 USD. I’ll pass, but…if I see this one for $12 USD in the coming days, I’ll grab it for the Hattie Collection.

Another 1:10 ratio heating up; this IDW is getting +$20 USD with multiple sales currently. How long will the Star Wars wave keep coming?

That's it for this week for books I'm seeing sales data for. Did I miss anything? Let me know below what I missed.

As for books to read this week, I'm looking forward to Swamp Thing's reboot this week. I love my Swamp Thing, you know?? I just really hope DC doesn't lay a big egg with this one.

I've been trying to get my hands on Eniac for awhile! I am somehow doubtful that my order at the comic book store for it went through. Bad Idea is another new publisher that looks like they'll have some quality goods.

Yeah, I am curious what is going on with this one. It sold out online on the day it was released, and prices were already in the hundreds of dollars. Craziness. I don't know anything from the publisher, but I will have to watch out for their stuff going forward. I'm guessing small print runs, high-quality stories?

I know their items are not on comichub, which is usually how I order items. I do happen to be on their mailing list, and they recently sent out an email that they have banned a comic retailer for selling Bad Idea comics for greater than cover price. I'm suddenly hoping that my order went through. I didn't even realise that Eniac was released yet!

nice! awesome - are you going to flip it? Or hold on?

I guess I haven't asked you that before...do you turn around or hold stuff long term?

If I can get it I'll hold it. I really do enjoy reading the comics that I have; I liken them to toys, in that toys I've always bought I get to play with. I read them; I re-read some of them, and then I wrap them in their bags and store them until the boys go through them.
