A BOOK THAT INSPIRES YOU: THINK BIG BY BEN CARSON
As I had mentioned in a previous publication of mine, Inspiration can literally be tapped from anywhere and this time, the inspiration comes from books.
Books have relatively been a great source for knowledge and a way to get inspiring ideas and thoughts that can make a positive impact in our lives. The mind, thoughts, and positive energy of the author is easily passed through writing to the reader.
Enough on my words about books. Today's discussion is about a book that inspires me. I must say, this is quite a difficult article for me as reading books is what I have lacked but nevertheless, I will share one that I read some time ago.
The book which I got inspired by is called THINK BIG which was authored by Ben Carson. It talks about the life of Ben during his childhood. Ben was single handedly raised by his mother because the father had left the marriage relationship. It was not easy for the mother as she was an illiterate.
Ben was abused and looked down by his classmates. Moreover, also had anger Issues. At the beginning, he was not doing well in school but all things changed when the mother decides to change the schedules of her sons to curb them from watching Tvs and making them write two books review every week. I was inspired on how things changed for Ben from the most dull student to the best of the class.
My Understanding Of the Meaning Of THINK BIG Acronym By Ben Carson
1. T for Talents & Time: It is necessary for us to be very creative in our talents. At the same time learn to manage time as talents fade when not worked upon. Many may not have the talents but can make the skill if time is well managed. There is a saying: Hard work beats talents if not properly managed.
2. H for Hope: when you try to go into exams or anything, be glad about it and expect the best in it.
3. I for Insight: This teaches us to be wise in learning. The best way to learn is from the errors of others that way, we don't repeat such errors and end up benefiting from the mistakes learnt.
4. N for nice: Being friendly and having good socialization with people is important and can later come helpful in life.
5. K for knowledge: To prosper in whatsoever field we want, we should hunger for knowledge. Learning actively through reading helps more than a passive way of learning by only listening.
6. B for Books: Go in search for books with great value. Having knowledge and understanding in their content can positively affect our lives.
7. I for In depth learning: It is best search for deep understanding in what we learn or read. This is way better than a would make us perform well compared to surface reading and craming which could result to lacking proper understanding of the content and later forgetting what we read.
8. G for GOD: In whatever we do, we should put God first and have him in our daily activities.
