Vale, nunca antes he participado en esto del #bloggingchallenge, pero este tema en particular me llamó la atención, y aquí estoy, decidí empezar por acá, realmente no sé si continuaré participando pero trataré de hacerlo de la mejor manera. Así que ahí voy; esta historia comienza hace casi un año:

Obviamente en enero/febrero del 2019 todavía no existía la red de Hive, la mayoría de los que hoy estamos acá estuvimos antes en Steem y yo, encantado con el proyecto, decidí usar algo de mi dinero para comprar algunos STEEM, y también unos cuantos SBD. ¿Por qué? Pues porque el precio del STEEM oscilaba entre los 13 centavos de dólar para ese momento, una ganga, una verdadera oportunidad que me resultó mucho mejor de lo que esperaba cuando compré.

Con el paso de los días, semanas, la noticia de la compra de Steemit Inc por parte de Justin Sun, la cara de TRON, aumentó el FOMO alrededor de Steem de una forma que no se había visto desde hacía un tiempo, entre los servidores de Discord y demás se hablaba de todas las posibilidades; entonces, como todo el que esté metido, parcialmente o de lleno, en el comercio de las criptomonedas, el popular trading, sabrá que el FOMO puede ser un a veces un gran aliado de los precios y, como era de esperarse, el STEEM aumentó su valor; pasó a costar entre veintitantos y treinta centavos. Para ese punto había recuperado mi inversión y estaba obteniendo ganancias de inversiones previas, y además lo "mejor" estaba por venir.

Steem en guerra

Bueh, acá haré una pausa para dar un poco de contexto. Los que vivimos la guerra de la bifurcación ya sabemos cómo fue el cuento, y para los que no, va más o menos así: Sun, aka el chino malvado, compró Steemit Inc junto con (apróximadamente) 80 millones de STEEM preminados, el ninja-mined stake, que técnicamente no le correspondían a él; esto generó preocupación y por consiguiente los testigos hicieron un soft-fork para congelar esos fondos, Sun se molestó y sus amigotes de los exchanges más populares actuaron como sus esbirros (sí, es contigo @deepcrypto8) prestándole STEEM para tener Steem Power suficiente para armar la guerra, la cosa se lio en grande, los testigos conocidos entraban y salían del top 20 ante un grupete de cuentas creadas por Sun; básicamente, una guerra de desgaste. No había salida "pacífica" posible y, en base a eso, nació Hive, una alternativa para la comunidad que no estaba contenta con las prácticas de Sun.

Ahora, la partecita que no muchos comentan es que junto con el nacimiento de Hive vino un airdrop que se tomó en un cambio 1:1 con la cantidad de STEEM, SBD y Steem Power a la par de HIVE, HBD y Hive Power. ¿Qué quiere decir eso? Que por cada STEEM, líquido o en poder de voto, y SBD a cada usuario le correspondía la misma cantidad en HIVE y HBD, y sí, mis ganancias se duplicaron.

De cierta forma, al menos económicamente hablando, la guerra me benefició, con los STEEM compré HIVE y además me quedó dinero a favor. Eso y unos buenos movimientos tradeando en exchanges me han permitido maximizar mis ganancias, y todo empezó con la ganancia de unos cuantos posts y un dinerillo invertido en STEEM que se convirtió, en poquísimo tiempo, sin yo tener ni la más mínima idea de lo que pasaría, en mi mejor inversión. Suerte de principiante.

Why? Well, because the price of STEEM was around 13 cents at that time, a bargain, a real opportunity that turned out to be much better than I expected when I bought.

As the days, weeks, went by, the news of the purchase of Steemit Inc by Justin Sun, the face of TRON, increased the FOMO around Steem in a way that hadn't been seen for a while, among the Discord servers and so on there was talk of all the possibilities; then, as anyone who is involved, partially or fully, in cryptocurrency trading, the popular trading, will know that FOMO can sometimes be a great ally of prices and, unsurprisingly, STEEM increased in value; it went on to cost between twenty-something and thirty cents. By this point I had recouped my investment and was making a profit on previous investments, and the "best" was yet to come.

Well, I'll pause here to give a bit of context. Those of us who lived through the fork war already know how the story went, and for those who didn't, it goes something like this: Sun, aka the evil Chinese, bought Steemit Inc along with (approximately) 80 million premined STEEM, the ninja-mined stake, which technically did not belong to him; this generated concern and consequently the witnesses made a soft-fork to freeze those funds, Sun got upset and his cronies from the most popular exchanges acted as his henchmen (yes, it's you @deepcrypto8) lending him STEEM to have enough Steem Power to wage war, things got messy, known witnesses were in and out of the top 20 against a bunch of accounts created by Sun; basically, a war of attrition. There was no "peaceful" way out and, based on that, Hive was born, an alternative for the community that was not happy with Sun's practices.

Now, the little part that not many comment on is that along with the birth of Hive came an airdrop that was taken in a 1:1 change with the amount of STEEM, SBD and Steem Power on par with HIVE, HBD and Hive Power. What does that mean? That for every STEEM, liquid or voting power, and SBD each user got the same amount in HIVE and HBD, and yes, my earnings doubled.

In a way, at least economically speaking, the war benefited me, with the STEEMs I bought HIVE and I also had money left in my favour. That and some good moves trading in exchanges have allowed me to maximize my profits, and it all started with the gain of a few posts and a little money invested in STEEM that became, in a very short time, without me having the slightest idea of what would happen, in my best investment. Beginner's luck.
