Anger is that emotional state provoked, most of the times, by something external to us that displeases us and can end up driving us completely out of our minds. When we feel angry we can yell at other people, hit them, we can break things and even, many times, we end up hurting emotionally the people we love. And the truth is that sometimes we can be so angry that we do not realize the great discomfort we feel, we do not realize our behaviors and, therefore, we do not realize that we are doing things wrong until after the anger passes and we are left with regret and guilt.

Actually, getting angry is not bad, but the question is how often this happens to us. When anger starts to become habitual we must be very careful because this, in the long run, could greatly affect our emotional state and our physical health. This is why we must learn to keep anger at bay and be aware that if we do nothing to placate it, this feeling will be activated more and more easily and with greater intensity, so if we do not act quickly and in time, the efforts to control it will lose effectiveness.

When anger starts to take hold of me the first option to distract my mind a little and reduce the stress that anger generates in me is to exercise or go for a walk. Exercising has always been therapeutic for me because it allows me to drain all those negative emotions. The same thing happens when I go for a walk, plus I can also get some fresh air and relax while observing everything around me.

Another thing that allows me to calm down when I get angry is listening to music. I simply put on my headphones, play my favorite playlist, lie down on my bed or couch and close my eyes. I just let myself be carried away by the sound of the music and it's as if my mind completely disconnects from all the negative situations and sometimes it's even funny, because I try to imagine myself as if I were at a concert watching the artist sing that song live. It sounds silly, but this is a pretty effective way to distract my mind from whatever generated my bad mood.

There are times when I simply take a deep breath and try to reflect with myself, I question myself if it is really worth getting angry about situations that do not depend completely on me and therefore I cannot control. This in a way allows me to change the perception of the situation, it prevents me from getting upset and I understand that it is not in my hands and that it cannot affect me.
