Paying Life Forward - My Gift | Day 9 of 30-DAY #BLOGGING CHALLENGE - Part 3 | [ENG/SPAN]

Today's topic is an easy one for me to discuss. You see, all my children are adults. I've given them all I can. I've planted seeds and provided the tools and knowledge they need to live the type of life they'd like going forward.

In this Day 9 of the 30-day Blogging Challenge (Part 3), I'm asked to address the question:

What life would you like to give to your kids/future kids?

When I talk about planting seeds and what I'd like to give my kids, I think of this verse:

"Train up a child in the way he should go:
and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
King James Version: Proverbs 22:6¹

I have found this to be true throughout my life. I devoted myself to teaching my children just as my parents taught me the following:

Seek a spiritual life.

I've taught them that in whatever they do in their lives, to first seek spiritual counseling before making any hasty decision. No matter what else is going on around you in the world, a calm spirit is the answer.

Live an ethical life.

Based upon the values I hold dear and the morals I live by, my children know the way they should behave. Sometimes society promotes values and judgments that are opposite of my beliefs. I tell my children to trust their instincts. Above all, I have instilled in them that nothing in this life is free. I taught them to listen, sift through the dicta, then make the choice they feel is ethical. No matter what venture you undertake, consequences will follow.

Be a leader and not a follower.

The personal and social values I've taught them should give them strength to uphold their beliefs and go in the direction they know is right regardless of what others do. I feel as though I have done a good job in this respect. They have strong minds and fortitude. They know how to research in order to distinguish whether they want to listen to others' advice.

How to live a successful life.

I've taught my children that success doesn't always mean how much money you have saved. I told them it's about the quality of life you have carved out for yourself. Included in that life is the ability to take care of yourself and your immediate needs. Having dreams and desires you want to fulfill can be achieved with hard work. Sometimes a bit of luck can help you along. Being able to live without stress I feel is having a good and successful life.

Respect for yourself and for other.

Perhaps among the most important aspect of life I hope I've instilled in my children is respect. Not only for themselves, but for others as fellow human beings. I've also taught them bigotry, hatred, indifference, unkindness, and indignation, self-righteousness has no place in this world or their lives.

To live a peaceful life, you can't hold onto any of those attributes mentioned above. Respect for yourself first will not leave you any room in your life to entertain any other destructive qualities. I've taught them that they are no better than anyone else in this world.

I also told them that just because others decide to live their lives differently or take a different path or have other objectives in life that cause them to flounder and fail, they still deserve an amount of respect as a human being.

Financial independence.

Having financial independence is what all parents desire for their children. I've seen many examples of parents not teaching their children about finances at an early age. At the forefront of this is how to spend wisely, management your resources, budget, and above all save for a rainy day. Never buy anything used unless investing in antiques.

Today, my children are financially independent. They have careers they are proud of that enable them to take care of themselves. They are now the ones that have pushed me to get some online wallets and start seriously investing in crypto.

We have a family investment club we each contribute to. My youngest daughter takes a larger percentage because as she say, she's taking the most risk with buying, selling, and tax consequences for the U.S. The children teaching the parents!

Charity from the heart.

This is perhaps the most enduring legacy I have and continue to instill in my children. The practice of giving and giving freely with a gleeful mind and spirit.

I remember once year at our family reunion. My daughters were just teens. They had gathered anything they could find to help other families who may have been in need. I was so happy to see this without any prompting from me.

My beloved charitable organization, Feed The Children, has taken hold of their hearts. During the pandemic, they expressed the sorrow and empathy they felt for the families in food lines. But the children not having enough to eat while not in school, they felt was the most devastating to watch and read about. I'm confident they will continue our charitable giving to agencies geared toward child hunger.

El tema de hoy es fácil de tratar para mí. Verás, todos mis hijos son adultos. Les he dado todo lo que he podido. He plantado las semillas y les he proporcionado las herramientas y el conocimiento que necesitan para vivir el tipo de vida que les gustaría en el futuro.

En este Día 9 del Reto Blogger de 30 días (Parte 3), se me pide que aborde la pregunta:

¿Qué vida te gustaría dar a tus hijos/futuros hijos?

Cuando hablo de plantar semillas y de lo que me gustaría dar a mis hijos, pienso en este verso:

*"Instruye al niño en el camino que debe seguir:
y cuando sea mayor, no se apartará de él".
Versión King James: Proverbios 22:6¹

He comprobado que esto es cierto a lo largo de mi vida. Me he dedicado a enseñar a mis hijos lo mismo que mis padres me enseñaron a mí:

Buscar una vida espiritual.

Les he enseñado que en cualquier cosa que hagan en sus vidas, primero busquen asesoramiento espiritual antes de tomar cualquier decisión precipitada. No importa lo que ocurra a su alrededor en el mundo, un espíritu tranquilo es la respuesta.

Vive una vida ética.

Basándome en los valores que aprecio y en la moral por la que vivo, mis hijos saben cómo deben comportarse. A veces la sociedad promueve valores y juicios opuestos a mis creencias. Les digo a mis hijos que confíen en sus instintos. Sobre todo, les he inculcado que nada en esta vida es gratis. Les he enseñado a escuchar, a cribar los dictados y a tomar la decisión que consideren ética. Sea cual sea la empresa que emprendan, las consecuencias llegarán.

Sé un líder y no un seguidor.

Los valores personales y sociales que les he enseñado deben darles fuerza para mantener sus creencias e ir en la dirección que saben que es correcta, independientemente de lo que hagan los demás. Creo que he hecho un buen trabajo en este sentido. Tienen mentes fuertes y fortaleza. Saben investigar para distinguir si quieren escuchar los consejos de los demás.

Cómo vivir una vida de éxito.

He enseñado a mis hijos que el éxito no siempre significa cuánto dinero tienes ahorrado. Les he dicho que se trata de la calidad de vida que te has labrado. En esa vida se incluye la capacidad de cuidar de uno mismo y de sus necesidades inmediatas. Tener sueños y deseos que quieres cumplir se puede conseguir con trabajo duro. A veces, un poco de suerte puede ayudarte. Ser capaz de vivir sin estrés creo que es tener una vida buena y exitosa.

Respeto por uno mismo y por los demás.

Quizá uno de los aspectos más importantes de la vida que espero haber inculcado a mis hijos es el respeto. No solo por ellos mismos, sino por los demás como seres humanos. También les he enseñado que la intolerancia, el odio, la indiferencia, la falta de amabilidad y la indignación, la justicia por mano propia, no tienen cabida en este mundo ni en sus vidas.

Para vivir una vida pacífica, no puedes aferrarte a ninguno de esos atributos mencionados anteriormente. El respeto por ti mismo en primer lugar no te dejará espacio en tu vida para entretenerte con cualquier otra cualidad destructiva. Les he enseñado que no son mejores que nadie en este mundo.

También les he dicho que sólo porque otros decidan vivir sus vidas de manera diferente o tomen un camino distinto o tengan otros objetivos en la vida que les hagan tambalearse y fracasar, siguen mereciendo una cantidad de respeto como seres humanos.

Independencia financiera.

Tener independencia financiera es lo que todos los padres desean para sus hijos. He visto muchos ejemplos de padres que no enseñan a sus hijos sobre finanzas a una edad temprana. Lo más importante es cómo gastar con prudencia, gestionar tus recursos, hacer un presupuesto y, sobre todo, ahorrar para un día lluvioso. No comprar nunca nada de segunda mano, a no ser que se invierta en antigüedades.

Hoy, mis hijos son económicamente independientes. Tienen carreras de las que están orgullosos y que les permiten cuidar de sí mismos. Ahora son ellos los que me han empujado a conseguir algunos monederos online y empezar a invertir seriamente en criptografía. Tenemos un club de inversión familiar al que cada uno contribuye.

Mi hija menor se lleva un porcentaje mayor porque, como ella dice, es la que más riesgo corre con la compra, la venta y las consecuencias fiscales para EE.UU. ¡Los hijos enseñan a los padres!

Caridad de corazón.

Este es quizás el legado más duradero que tengo y sigo inculcando a mis hijos. La práctica de dar y dar libremente con una mente y un espíritu alegres.

Recuerdo un año en nuestra reunión familiar. Mis hijas eran apenas unas adolescentes. Habían reunido todo lo que pudieron encontrar para ayudar a otras familias que pudieran estar necesitadas. Me alegré mucho al ver esto sin que yo lo impulsara.

Mi querida organización benéfica,** Feed The Children** se apoderó de sus corazones. Durante la pandemia, expresaron la pena y la empatía que sentían por las familias en las colas de comida. Pero los niños que no tenían suficiente para comer mientras no estaban en la escuela, les pareció lo más devastador de ver y leer. Estoy seguro de que continuarán con nuestras donaciones benéficas a los organismos orientados al hambre infantil.
