I need to consider myself lucky been born in Australia, in this country you are blessed if you are an lover of beaches and nature, no matter which coastline you drive along, whether it's the East, West, South or North coastline you are always going to run into some beautiful little hidden gem of the beaten track. There is always that weekend you just wanted to get out of the big smoke, you would only have to drive an couple of hours out of the city and you would feel like your on vacation on an paradise island easy is that.

At least once an month or every second month my girlfriend and myself would jump in the car and drive north up the Pacific Highway with no destination planned, we would just pull up at random towns and if the vibe felt good we would pitch up an tent, grad a caravan or get an reasonable cheap room, as long as it had a shower and an bed, it is all we needed, because we were only going to sleep the nights we would be up early hiking and exploring from dawn to dusk. On this particular weekend we ended up in Woolgoolga town caravan park by the creek, just perfect with beautiful nature surrounding us.

Woolgoolga Town was about an 5 hour drive from Sydney North, driving along the Pacific Highway, we saw this sign Woolgoolga Town turn right, it sounded like a interesting name so we had to investigate this township, it was about a 20 minute drive into the town off the highway, we definitely could feel the good vibes as we were entered the main street of the town, it wasn't overcrowded and seemed like a very friendly town, feeling a bit peckish we decided on some afternoon lunch before going any further, spotted this outdoor restaurant with many people sitting there so we thought the food must be good there, let's do it.

Setting of early that morning wake and driving really put the hunger in us and this was worth waiting for seafood and Indian food was the perfect recipe and certainly satisfied our appetites.

Woolgoolga is known for it's beautiful beaches for swimming, surfing or snorkeling also can do kayaking or kayak fishing and if you are into hiking there are some amazing rain-forest and bush walking trails. We took the nature walk trails and lost ourselves in the beauty of the cool nature of the rain-forest.

Also another great thing this town is know for is not only all it's spectacular views from the headlands but it's got the best vantage points in the region for spotting whales during the annual migration during the months of May till November. Even our icon Australia Kangaroo enjoy the whale watching and sunsets. They are seen everywhere along the headlands and are free to roam around not bothering anyone they are as friendly as the town people.

If ever visiting this beautiful town you will notice the bigger population of this town are the Sikhs, they began to settle here in Woolgoolga during World War II and today they just about own the town, they have many Indian restaurants, they run music and curry food festivals, they built there own Temple the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, an architectural landmark built in 1969 and own 90% of the banana farms around the area. That explains why all the Indian restaurants in town which I don't mind, Indian food I love curry and spicy.

Walking along the beach we came across something very strange that seem to look like the spine of a buried dinosaur but it turned to be an old shipwreck sticking out of the sand, holding the stories of sailors from long ago. The shipwreck was the Buster, which ran an ground in 1893.

There was so much to see in Woolgoolga, that it simply wasn't possible in one weekend. The waterfalls that we didn't get to or the seaside 18-hole golf course if your into golf but we did get to do our dawn and evening walks on the beaches catching some amazing sunrises and sunsets.

Living in Woolgoolga Town, would be a very attracting town to live in for many people not only that it has everything you need and be comfortable but it is also only an easy 25 minute drive to Coffs Harbour, which is like a small city with great hospital's and major shopping centers also, your mid-way between Sydney and Queensland a perfect location to live.
