An Weekend Away in Lennox Head, NSW.

avatar
As I was saying in my last post my girlfriend and myself we love getting away from the big smoke now and then and our favorite destination seems to be heading up the north coast of Australia for the reasons, it is the warmer part of Australia and also has many little hidden beach towns along this coastline, on this particular weekend getaway we ended up in an small town called Lennox Head, it's situated on the coastline between Byron Bay and Ballina, NSW.

Lennox Head is just over an 7 hour drive from Sydney, along the Pacific Highway stretch, you can also fly into Ballina airport from Sydney been an one hour flight and a 20 minute drive to Lennox Head town from Ballina airport. As for us we prefer to drive as we get to see more and stop when we like and where we like. As we were approaching Lennox Head from the distance coming down the highway, already we were getting excited seeing this beautiful blue ocean ahead of us.

As we made the exist of the highway to head into the town center, we could see that the small population of this town been less then 8.000 people, loved and cared for this town of there's the streets were immaculately clean and the street parks and gardens were all neatly manicured. We could see the town center had may cafes and restaurants and also by the beach, it looked a very relaxed laid back town prefect place for a restful holiday.

In between on either side apart from the beautiful Lennox Beach you also have Boulder Beach and Emerald Beach all spectacular white sand beaches and all great for surfing and the amazing part here on these beaches you would often see the Dolphins joining in with the surfers riding the waves, was amazing to see.

Just north from Lennox beach towards Broken Head Beach you will find Seven Mile Beach which is an pristine stretch of white sand beach that runs for miles along the coastline the perfect spot if you are into 4WD and camping adventures.

Emerald Beach is boosted as one of the best locals surfing hot spots and has a amazing national park full of wildlife with a beautiful lake that you can do kayaking or paddle boats. Also here you will find pathways leading you around the coastline or go of the beaten track and go deeper into the rain forest. Also a great beach for fishing, swimming or for barbecues in the picnic areas.

All along the stretch from Lennox beach to Emerald beach you will see the locals either walking, jogging, exercising or walking there dogs, apparently Lennox town is not only friendly to visitors, but also an very friendly town towards the furry animals you can walk your dogs along these pathways and on the beaches even take them for a swim as long as you have them on a dog leash.

This was yet another hidden gem we came across. Here in Lennox Head, I found they have wonderful beaches, the peace and tranquility of the town would keep me coming back here. The town is not over developed one supermarket and an handful of restaurants to buy a glass of wine so to speak. Lennox Head is the antithesis of the Gold Coast with the locals being the good old Aussie families and retirees . Everyone respects everyone.

The sunsets alone would keep bring me back to this beautiful town we surely saw our fair share of sunsets no matter, if we walking along the pathways, at the headlands view points, walking along the beaches or just having a coffee by the ocean cafe, it certainly left us with another amazing getaway weekend to go down in our books.

Even the local Aussie Kangaroo was enjoying the peaceful sunset.

I can see the logic in that the beauty of nature we can not dispute that.

Hi there, @dswigle there are so many little gem towns like this around our huge coastline that I think I will never get to see them all but I am certainly going to do my best at it.
