The Madan Mahal - Ruins of Gondwana Kingdom (Heritage site of India)

The best way to explore our ancient times is to take a trip down to old forts and palaces. Though some of them remain in bad shape but still thanks to Archeological Survey of India, they take care of the upkeep of these palaces in best way.

Madan Mahal Fort in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Indis, is one such place, where you would travel to one of the ancient times.

Madan Mahal Fort is the heritage site of Jabalpur. Till now it holds its culture and beauty. It can be a new experience as the place will take you to the ancient times of great Gondwana kingdom.

The Gondwana Kingdom was ruled by Rajgonds. The Rajgonds are the ruling class among the Gond tribe. The Gond Tribal is the dominating Community in Gondwana region. The name Gondwana named after Gondi people. Who were considered to be nature lover. - Wikipedia

This place has some scenic beauty that is hard to be described in simple words.

Madan Mahal Fort, is one of the ancient forts, which was constructed in a way, that it could tolerate any climatic condition. The fort was constructed in 1116 by the great Gond ruler named Raja Madan Singh. This fort was said to be the pleasure palace of tenth Gond King Madan Singh. He was one of the sons of Rani Durgawati.

There is a watchtower that is still found on this fort. The rulers used to keep a good watch upon the attackers or enemies from this tower. It is quite high and it could easily trace the movement of the attackers from a distance.

Madan Mahal Fort is very pretty and located in middle of the green location. While one can enjoy the history of the forts at the same time, they can take some amazing pictures in this forts. Apart from the pleasure room, there are other things to explore as well. You may like to see the ancient war room of the palace or climb upon the watch tower to look thr beauty of the town.

A long-time has passed and there are no more rules left, but still, this palace has not lost its importance and charm from Indian history. All thanks to the Archaelogical team who made all possible effort for thr upkeep of this place. This place is one of the mark of oldest Indian kingdom. And by making a trip down at this place, you might able to visit in the bylanes of gond kingdom.

Madan Mahal Fort is located in the Jabalpur city in Madhya Pradesh. Jabalpur has hot and humid climate, so in case you plan, visit this place from October to March, which is usually winter season in India.

Words of Caution : Do not mess with any of the monkeys that came along in the fort as they might get aggresive. Few instances were already reported.

The fort was constructed in 1116

And look at that - someone can still live in it - I always wonder, how they built these with so big stones and materials that its still in tact till now. We have seen many examples of buildings collapsing which are not even 100 years old..

Wow! I wonder how it must have looked like 850 years ago in all it's glory. Only realized what all lied hidden in plain sight when i was living in India. So many placed i'd wanna see today. So many archeological treasures.

You know, i never feel more at home anywhere in the world ! I just hadn't gotten any time to go back since 2018. Usually i tend to stay6 months or even an entire year. Love to work there and i feel a strong connection because i am of indian . When i speak hindi i probably sound like a foreigner. Where do you reside? Delhi?

I lives in Delhi but lately shifted to native place in Jharkhand 3 years ago...learning few farming technique 😉...and taking care of my ailing Dad....

Indian from hauz khas originally Punjabi/Rajasthani from Bikaner. I was born outside India. Only lived in India for 12 years after i was 17. I did spend many months since im 2 years of age too. Its beautiful you are interested in agronomics. Helping your dad. I miss the food so much.apart from mushrooms there are only potatoes not much grows here.

Bringing a change is good in life...was pretty pissed off with the corporate life...so thought to look for a new horizon and what is good than farming....enjoying some fresh air, and fresh food....🤗....life is challenging...let see where it takes next......what you do there...studying doing some works....Germany right ?
