Some really interesting wildlife photos here but I really hate to see all those amazing marine mammals kept in little tanks and forced to perform tricks for the audience (and profit of the owners). I actually visited a facility like this one too, years ago, but have really changed my attitude since then and I am not supporting this anymore. Not always the easiest way but watching animals in their natural environment is so much better in my book...

I agree and I do hear certain things occasionally happen but I still with all the bad in this world see that most of what they do is for the good, a lot of these animals get rescued and basically wouldn't make it in their wild habitat. Some do get released back but I do understand what you mean too. I also have a family member that works for the Zoo and trust me the work that they do is for the greater good my friend, She is an exceptional lead caretaker and she is so knowledge and caring. I tend to think that some things bad happen but most of the people that break stories has an agenda like the government in politics, If I hadn't had my family member tell me that these people lied about this and that, just to get the place to be shut down.

That´s a good point, zoos are definitely a different story. There are many zoo facilities that really care for their animals, run re-introduction programs etc. But with these parks like the Sea World, I am afraid this is just about making profit, regardless of the well-being of the animals. Do you really think that an orca or dolphin, highly intelligent and super sensitive creatures that normally roam around hundreds and thousands of square miles of vast ocean, can live a happy life in a tiny concrete tank while playing fetch and giving rides to tourists? There have even been cases of the desperate animals trying to commit a suicide...

No I agree with you I don't think they should be at all but we are now here and most of these Orcas were from private dealers and sellers from the beginning. Check out this article, its not so easy to just let them out and see if they can live on their own, they need to be with a pack or they are done for. I don't want to argue my friend but if they just released them all, I bet they would all die within 5 years, just like Keiko. The sad part is that Orca was free to come and go for five years but had nobody to go with, so I would assume that something bad happened but just like Government we would never get the truth. As for the other Orca in the story, that was a perfect release situation because it got hooked up with its old pack. Sea World isn't necessarily the problem, its poachers and private collectors etc that are the real problem. I don't have a solution to what should happen now, I just know its not as easy as PETA or others think. I think just like everything else we need to come together and take out our emotions out of the discussion and work together to figure it all out, just like in our current life situation with the Government lies but they got us to much fighting back and forth.

Very good points again. Sure, you cannot take an orca that has been in captivity for long years (or even born there) and just put him back in the sea. They would probably die soon indeed. My point was that this whole industry that benefits from captive marine mammals should be banned (it actually is in many countries already but not in the US yet). Without demand, there is no supply. Simple as that. Those who want to see dolphins, whales and other cetaceans can book a tour on a boat and go see them in the sea, without hurting them and without supporting a business that abuses them. Gonna read the article now... ;)

I still agree with you as well my friend, even though I feel the show and the Orca's are amazing but deep down should we continue this? That is the question but it does bring in that same money that helps them.

I miss going to waterparks. It's one of the first few things I'm going to experience when this pandemic ends. I'm just wondering if they still operate in the middle of this pandemic?

I know here they opened up and then closed again. Currently still closed. We will get back to normal some day.
