Trip Portugal - Portuguese statues

Portugal in several of its squares places statues of people who were very important for the country.
This is a monument that is found in the city of Porto that honors Infante Dom Henrique for the following reasons, for being a patron of Portuguese discoveries and also because he was born in Porto, near this square, in a place called Cada do Infante or Casa da Rua Alfandega Velha (today a multidisciplinary museum).
In this square there is a garden, which many young people often find in this place and it is quite close to the Ribeira do Porto area, one of the most visited places by tourists.

This statue is called the Angel Messenger and is located in the city of Porto. In this place you can have a magnificent view of the Douro River and one of the most important bridges in the city, which is the Ponte de Arrabida that connects the city of Porto to the city of Vila Nova de Gaia.

In Portugal you will find several statutes of Dom Afonso Henriques, because he was the first king of Portugal.

This statue can be seen in the city of Viseu, and represents the hero Viriato, described as being a shepherd and hunter from Lusitania and was elected chief of the Lusitanians. After defending his mountains victoriously, Viriato decidedly launched an offensive war. Triumphantly enters Hispania Citerior, the Roman division of the Iberian Peninsula into two provinces, Citerior and Ulterior, separated by a line perpendicular to the river Ebro and which passed through the saltus Castulonensis and launches contributions on the cities that recognize the government of Rome.
Later he would defeat the Romans in the Ronda Gorge, which separates the Guadalquivir plain from the Andalusian sea coast, where he would kill Vetílio himself.
