My Home Sweet Home: Kibawe, Bukidnon, The Place I call my Own

Before the pandemic, we used to go home to my hometown at least twice a year. Usually during All Souls' Day and during our town Fiesta.

Why All Soul's Day?

Because it is where both of my parents passed away, their resting place is there so at least we could visit them once a year.

Town Fiesta

It has become a tradition for every Filipino specifically Catholics to celebrate the Fiesta of the Town or City patron Saint. And people really will find time to go home during that event.

Travel Time

As I already lived in the City of Cagayan de Oro with a travel time of about 4 to 5 hours we limit our visit to only twice a year. Sadly, I'm not sure if we could make it this year, as there are a lot of travel restrictions during this time of COVID19.

Kibawe Bukidnon is quite far, but traveling with the whole family makes the moments on the road exciting and enjoyable.

KIBAWE, BUKIDNON

Kibawe is where I was born and most of my siblings. My late parents were able to establish a small business there although both of them came from Bohol. I think it's been more than 60 years since they started a life in this small but very progressive municipality in the province of Bukidnon.

Until now most of my siblings with their respective families still live in Kibawe and my parent's final resting place is also there that is why we really do our best to go there during All Soul's Day.

NO MORE FIESTA CELEBRATION

Another occasion when we also make sure we could attend is our Town Fiesta Celebration. It happens on every 8th of December. I know a lot of people who already live far away from Kibawe (Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Iligan, Surigao, Bohol, Manila) will really make sure they could attend the celebration.

But this time I'm not sure although there's a very big possibility that celebrations like this will no longer be allowed because of the pandemic.

This makes it impossible also for my family to be able to go there this December. Except of course when a miracle will happen and in just a blink of an eye, COVID19 is gone already.

The town fiesta is the most enjoyable time of the year in Kibawe, they even have started invited local bands and some showbiz personalities to entertain the people of Kibawe during the whole duration of the celebration.

I remember we stayed late at night last year listening and watching the live band the local government of Kibawe had invited to perform the night before the Fiesta.

Of course, the usual Fiesta Carnival is also there, which made not only the kids happy but also gown up people like us. This is one of those we really look forward to during Fiestas. I think we went there every night during our whole stay in Kibawe.

But these things are impossible to happen this year with the ever-rising cases of COVID19, and this makes me sad. Hopefully, someday we will be able to get rid of this disease so we could go back to our normal life.

The night was indeed so colorful, and obviously enjoyable, it's something the kids will really miss this year. Although personally, I'm still hopeful that something good will happen before December. I believe that if God will allow, this pandemic will always be stopped anytime.

Anyhow, to continue with our travel last year, we also had a great time at a resort adjacent to our place in Kibawe, although it belongs to another municipality already. It is where one of my brothers lives, I think just around 20 to 25 minutes travel.

As far as I can remember, there was no instance when were in Kibawe for another purpose that we didn't spend time in Pawan also. It's like Pawan is part of the package already.

PAWAN RESORT

The resort is called Pawan and I strongly recommend to visit the place whenever you get a chance to visit Bukidnon in the future.

Pawan is actually located in Sampagar, Damulog Bukidnon it is the next municipality from Kibawe if you travel from Cagayan de Oro.

(this is me and my two little boys, sitting beside under the heat of the sun, the moment was indeed a good time for family bonding.)

What I like in this place is that being there is like communing with nature. In fact, the water that flows into the swimming pool came from the mountain and it's considerably cold.

You can hardly find a signal there even wifi which I find it good so one could really concentrate on enjoying the moment with the God-given gift of nature. This is indeed one of the favorite places to visit when you are in Bukidnon, a place where you can go away from a usual busy and stressful day in the city.

Aside from swimming at the pool, Pawan also offers boat riding for a very minimal fee, they also have Karaoke for those who really like singing. These two features ads to the excitement they are offering to their guests.

Overall and as I just said earlier I surely will recommend this wonderful place. You won't regret being there and will surely want to stay longer, unfortunately, I think they are open only up to 6 in the evening. So it's best to go there early in the morning so you could maximize the time.

Since there's no signal there, there's no reason you cannot enjoy the place with your loved ones. So don't forget to visit the place and feel the wonders of nature. So want to relax and unwind? Pawan is one best place to go!

See you everyone, keep safe and God bless!
