Pikes Peak in Colorado and Denver City.

During my visit in America last year i had already traveled and seen a few states of USA and on my last post i was talking about been in Colorado after visiting the Great Sand Dunes of Colorado at the Rocky Mountain National Park and the Gardens of the Gods Park we continue on further to Pikes Peak in Colorado which was less then 30 miles away just over an one hour drive from the Gardens of the Gods Park.

Driving to Pikes Peak along the Pikes Peak Highway there was a cost of $15 per adult to drive along this highway but let me tell you it was worth every dollar the sceneries were astounding as we were winding up this paved 30 km highway.

This amazing winding drive scary at times as there are minimal guard rails along the way as your driving up this Pikes Peak highway just don't look over the sides , it will take you up to one of America's highest mountain been 14,115 feet high ( 4,300 meters ) known as the Colorado summit . Adventure seekers can also hike and bike these mountains as there are many trails it would certainly not be a thing for everyone you would need to be extremely fit to take these mountains on.

ppc_15.jpg

There are many pull over areas as your driving up this winding highway giving you many opportunities to stretch your legs enjoy the views and snap a few photos. They say on the clearest day you can see five states from the peak of these mountains that been Colorado , Arizona , Utah , Kansas and New Mexico in any case these the views from up here were just breathtaking. These mountains were formed and shaped by glaciers over millions of years giving them these impressive looks and shapes. The drive back down was just as scary and intriguing one place you wouldn't want to lose your brakes.

After witnessing these breathtaking landscapes and doing the dare devil drive up and back down the Pikes Peak Highway we were now on our way to Denver which is the capital of Colorado which was going to be about a 2 hour drive spent the night in Denver and sample some craft beers , Denver is know for having many thriving craft breweries and great dining restaurants.

The local whisky was a pretty strong drop 🤣

ppc_25.jpg

After a successful night of sampling some great craft beers and some strong local whiskeys it was time for a good needed healthy breakfast the next morning before making our way to the airport. I really enjoyed Denver city it's known as "The Mile High City" a very clean attractive city with lots of sophisticated outdoor adventures to be had in this beautiful city would have loved to have spent more time in Denver.

On the way to Denver airport we still had a few hours to kill before our flight back to Danville , California we decided to stop at Barr Lake State Park to stretch our legs check out some autumn colors and maybe some wildlife the lake is about 2,000 acres when full.

The Barr Lake has many activities the lake is great fishing ground it's open to sailboats and hand propelled crafts the lake is filled with catfish , rainbow trouts , smallmouth and largemouth bass and many more also there are are miles of nature trails to explore around the lake and many camping grounds admission cost to the lake was $8 per car.

It was a great way to end our visit in Denver we could have packed in anymore another great city seen in USA and now it was time to board our flight and back home to the beautiful mountains of Danville , California. Flying over the Denver/Colorado mountains was also a breathtaking moment seeing them huge mountains down below already covered with some snow and the sunset in the background was just another great memory to bring home.

Isn't Colorado so cool? I lived in Colorado Springs, although only for a short while. Pikes Peak and Switzerland were two places that I can say are not for the faint of heart!

Your pictures were amazing and I loved the faces with the Whiskey tasting! LOL It's true! You have to have an iron gut to take that! :) You have made a most amazing post, showing off some of my favorite places! I could easily live in Denver! Cold be danged! :)

You truly know how to wield the words and the camera!!!

#MarketFriday loves you!
