A tour to the mouth of the river Laita (Guidel)

Hey guys,
todays post is about Brittany - and specifically about a really nice vacation spot where you can relax. Of course by the sea.

And it's about Guidel Plages - Guidel borders on the river Laïta. This marks the border of Brittany, so to speak. Directly on the coast is a very important part of the city for Guidel. Here is Guidel-Plages and thus a marina, many stores, and the beaches. These parts are very important for Guidel, because much here is based on tourism.
In advance, some information about our route: On our bike tour we started from Guidel and drove via Saint-Fiacre to Kerbrest and from there back to Guidel. This took about an hour in total (pure driving time, so it's really not much and the route is highly recommended. You can also take the route via Kergoledec, because then you pass the river Laita. From Kerbrest it is then really not far to Guidel Plages.

We took a bike tour along the coast here too later (that's why you'll find mostly coastal pictures with directions here ;)). We did stopped in Guidel too and it was amazing.

Guidel is still known today for its many churches and chapels. One associates this town very quickly with religion. there is not only one village church, but even a whole 7 (!) chapels in Guidel alone (which has grown more and more over time, but still relatively manageable). Whether the chapels or the church is worth a visit, I can not tell you unfortunately (because we have spent the day virtually entirely on the beach), but I would not withhold that there are some ;).

And these are the most famous beaches of Guidel: Pen-Er-Malo beach, La Falaise beach and Loc'h beach. All are supervised during the summer.
We especially liked the beach from Pen er Malo to Guidel-Plages, because it is also less frequented by tourists. It is a 6.0 kilometer long beach. There are always great viewpoints and beautiful wildflowers and animals to see here (which, in my experience, you see less often on the other beaches.

Plage du Loc'h, for example, is an excellent surf pot, and we saw surfers on every beach.
The "Plage de la falaise" is very popular with kitesurfers. Translated, it means "beach of the cliff". Here the sea is even divided into two sections: one for surfing, the other for swimming.
We visited the beach at the mouth of the river Laïta, on the sea side of Guidel.

Even though today's post is a bit shorter and mainly about beaches, I hope you still enjoyed reading it! Until next time :)

Hello Katrin, I can imagine biking around here must have been so much fun yet relaxing. Love the beautiful detail of the Brittany flag. I have never been to this part of Brittany, is the shingle roof and white walls the typical architectural style for homes there as seen in some of your photos?

Yes it really was :) thank you! The shingle roofs are really typical and you can find them nearly on every corner, the white walls also but i think stone facades are also very typical in Brittany;)
