A walk around the Powiśle district in Warsaw / Spacer po dzielnicy Powiśle w Warszawie

Powiśle is a housing estate in the district of Warsaw - Śródmieście, that is close to me personally. I happened to live here for a while and also go to various activities. The cool thing is that you can walk to the Vistula in a few minutes from here, the Vistula Boulevards are close, as well as metro stations, such as the Copernicus Science Center metro station or the Powiśle train station. We have about 10 minutes to the center from here. I lived here in one of the tenement houses, in a large apartment on the large top floor with a roof terrace. It offered a wonderful view of the area.

Powiśle to osiedle w dzielnicy Warszawy - Śródmieście. Jest mi osobiście bliska. Zdarzyło mi się tu mieszkać przez jakiś czas, a także chodzić na różne zajęcia. Fajne jest to, że w kilka minut można stąd dojść do Wisły, blisko są Bulwary Wiślane, a także stacje metra, np. Metro Centrum Nauki Kopernik, czy stacja kolejowa PKP Powiśle. Do centrum mamy stąd ok.10 minut. Mieszkałam tu w jednej z kamienic, na dużym poddaszu z tarasem na dachu. Rozchodził się z niego cudowny widok na okolicę.

I really like the lower area of the Poniatowski Bridge, you can see that it is a building from other times. Near the bridge you can meet women selling flowers or fruit. I also like the tenement houses, especially the restored ones. Many times I wanted to paint them, maybe someday I will be able to do it. Often when I pass or drive by, I am impressed by their appearance.

Bardzo lubię dolne okolice Mostu Poniatowskiego, widać że to budowla z innych czasów. Niedaleko mostu można spotkać kobiety sprzedające kwiaty albo owoce. Podobają mi się też kamienice, szczególnie te odrestaurowane. Wiele razy miałam ochotę je namalować, może kiedyś mi się to uda. Często gdy obok nich przechodzę lub przejeżdżam, jestem pod wrażeniem ich wyglądu.

Old service premises, such as this photo studio, are also atmospheric. You can see that it is a photography studio with traditions, which has been based here for many years. When I see such photo studios, I can imagine what it was like to live in old Warsaw, when you didn't buy photos in more commercial photo studios.

Klimatyczne są też stare lokale usługowe, jak ten zakład fotograficzny. Widać, że to zakład fotograficzny z tradycjami, który ma tu siedzibę od wielu lat. Gdy widzę takie zakłady wyobrażam sobie jak to było mieszkać w dawnej Warszawie, gdy nie kupowało się zdjęć w bardziej komercyjnych punktach fotograficznych.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Powiśle was the main industrial district of Warsaw. Powiśle, like most of Warsaw, was mostly destroyed during World War II, after the Warsaw Uprising was suppressed by the Germans. After the war, the district was successively rebuilt, building a few architecturally interesting blocks. However, three of them, the so-called "iks" are particularly distinguished by their architecture. Today it is a district where old, beautiful tenement houses and interesting blocks are adjacent to modern apartment buildings with security.

Na początku XIX wieku Powiśle było główną dzielnicą przemysłową Warszawy. Powiśle, jak większa część Warszawy, zostało w większości zniszczone podczas II wojny światowej, po stłumieniu powstania warszawskiego przez Niemców. Po wojnie sukcesywnie odbudowywano dzielnicę, stawiając kilka ciekawych pod względem architektonicznym bloków. Jednak trzy z nich, tzw. "iksy", szczególnie wyróżniają się swoją architekturą. Dziś jest to dzielnica, w której stare, piękne kamienice i ciekawe bloki sąsiadują z nowoczesnymi apartamentowcami z ochroną.

I also like such flower meadows planted between the streets. A very nice decoration.

Podobają mi się też takie łąki kwietne zasadzone między ulicami. Bardzo fajna ozdoba.

In Powiśle there is a great pub for beer lovers - "Kapsle i Kufle". Here you can taste the best craft breweries from Poland, Europe and the USA. I like the variety with fruity flavors the most - eg Fruit Market Theory.

Na Powiślu znajduje się świetny pub dla miłośników piwa - "Kapsle i Kufle". Można tu spróbować najlepszych browarów rzemieślniczych z Polski, Europy i USA. Ja najbardziej lubię odmiany z owocowymi smakami - np. Fruit Market Theory.
