Galipeault bridge, Grande-Vallée, Quebec, Canada (3 pics)

The Pont Galipeault is a pretty covered bridge, inaugurated in 1923.

It is a 144-foot-long wooden structure that stretch over the Grande-Vallée River.

Without it, not sure that the city of Grande-Vallée would have seen the light of day in this place.

There would have been around 1,500 such bridges built between 1800 and 1950 in Quebec, but only a handful of them are still standing today.

This bridge not only still exists, but it can be crossed without any problem.

Ok, as it is a two-way street, you still have to check that no other vehicle arrives on the other side to be able to cross it.

Its red color is typical of the time and adds to the charm of the bridge while providing a beautiful setting for the locals for various events.

There isn't much to see nearby, but a small detour to cross this bridge during our tour of the Gaspé is a little original touch that allowed us to travel back in time for a few minutes.

And if you are there in the evening, I was told that the light that illuminates the bridge gives it a magical look.
