1000-year-old painting in the Cueva del Suri, Cafayate, Argentina (5 pics)
On a beautiful sunny day, we decided to go explore the Cueva del Suri.
We therefore take a dirt road that does not seem to be the right one.
We saw a sign at the start of the path, but then nothing.
We start to climb a hill, we tell ourselves that at worst we will have a nice walk through the Argentinian mountains.
A young peasant passing by, in fact, I don't know where he came from since we were in the middle of nowhere, offers to take us to the cave.
We accept with pleasure has he tells us that we are close.
As it is quite hidden, we would surely have passed straight by without seeing it.
See, the entrance is right here under that rock on the right.
Obvious, isn't it?
I must say that the cave is not very large, but there are still several paintings carved on the rocks.
Here we have abstract symbols, your guess is as good as anyone else's to figure them out!
More classic paintings of animals (birds, puma, llama, etc.) are found in larger quantities in the cave.
These cave paintings date back to around 1000 years ago!
It is always very interesting to see things that survive centuries.
