My trip through Argentina: Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego / Mi viaje por Argentina: Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego

Hello my friends who follow me! I will continue to tell you about my trip to Argentina. After the three days I spent with my daughter in the beautiful places of Iguazú, we thus left for Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia. We left at night and arrived at the airport early in the morning. The tremendous cold and the wind froze our faces when we got off the plane.

We took a taxi that took us to the Alakaluf hotel, which we had already booked, upon arriving there they welcomed us. A comfortable room with a beautiful view towards the sea and of course heated by the strong cold of the place, after we settled down we went down to the dining room for breakfast and in front of a view of the immense and endless sea and a cat mounted on the window watching us.

After breakfast we went out eager to walk and get to know the city in the cold and everything but the emotion was greater. We started on the main avenue of beautiful houses and many cabins that we liked a lot with their fireplaces lit all day. We visited the tourist pier full of bars, always taking photos as a souvenir.

Then we went to the End of the World Train passing through beautiful meadows with an intense green and we arrived at the Tierra del Fuego station. We went down and walking we saw lagoons and beyond, the mountains dressed in white by the snow that never melts, yes, we had red cheeks and purple lips from the cold.

We visit the tree cemetery, which is a valley full of felled logs, we pass a representation of homes or refuges of indigenous Yamanas, who were nomads who searched for food by sailing, hunted mollusks, sea lions and mushrooms.

We walked through this national park and now we continue on foot, not with the train, more exciting and we arrive at a tea house (Restaurant) located in that magical and beautiful place full of forests, flowers of different colors and an absolute harmony and I believe that the people who live there don't need anything else because they feel happy in body and mind.

In that restaurant we drank a delicious fruit juice from that forest that I remember without lying as if it were today. We took photos and stayed long enough to record in our minds all those beauties that God put in nature. From there we continued walking, the road was long and suddenly we see some wild horses loose very close to us grazing there. I was so afraid that they might attack us and I walked without making noise until I passed the place, my daughter was not scared.

In the end we got to the city, we stopped at a restaurant to eat and then to the hotel to rest for a few hours because it was not possible to walk all day in the street because of the immense cold.

At night we go out to dinner, in Ushuaia they eat a lot of lamb, I ate that, my daughter didn't because she doesn't eat meat, she ate vegetarian. We returned to the hotel at night and the cold felt stronger but the room was very warm due to the heating. Well, we spent a while talking and thinking about the next day's adventure and of course sleeping.

In the morning we went to the tourist pier to get the ticket for the excursion with the sailboat and the guide who was going to walk us around the island of sea lions and birds. What a lot of sea lions and birds! Many sea lion pups with their mothers breastfeeding them. How beautiful is nature that human beings unfortunately pollute and destroy every day that passes. What beautiful landscapes and the super calm but frozen sea.

The driver of the sailboat told us: if you fall, you don't come out alive, laughing. Too cold. I remember that I didn't have gloves and the boy lent me his, what a beautiful gesture! Mariano was his name, in the photo he is collecting seaweed. The boy gave us a tasty and large chocolate alfajor (a typical Argentine sweet) that, with that cold, we fell wonderfully.

We walked to a mountain where from there we observed some beautiful seabirds looking towards the ocean, a view and a peace that I have no words to explain, believe me friends.

When we returned we visited the Maritime Museum and the Presidio Museum where I took a photo of my daughter being in prison hahaha, this place was a prison island many years ago.

Then we went down to the seafront, we sat down for a while and then almost at sunset we returned to the hotel and then went to dinner nearby. The next day, not very early because the cold was getting worse, we took a taxi that was going to take us to the Martial Glacier, where the Winter Sports Center is located.

Getting out of the taxi we went walking little by little because that was pure climb and on one side of the climb came a waterfall of water from the snow that melted with the sun. That place seemed like a paradise between huge half-bare trees and snow everywhere. There we don't feel very cold because we walk a lot uphill. We took photos taking advantage of the opportunity. In the forest there was a plant called calafate and they say that whoever tastes its fruits will return to that place. The truth is that I don't know how true it is, but I did eat some, not because I believed that, but because I wanted to see what they tasted like, they were a bit acidic, some fruits the size of a chickpea.

A little further up we stopped to eat something we had brought, we sat under some trees on some large stones where a river passed. We cooled down a bit and there was a large dog sleeping, I, seeing its size, felt that a cold current passed through my body but that animal was very affectionate and what it wanted was for us to caress it, very harmless.

Finishing the fantastic adventure in the glaciers, we return to the city, and then the next day visit the winter center and see the husky and Alaskan dogs, in a hamlet, a very quiet place and many trees, beautiful dogs that do races and the people also use them for small loads of wood that they use for cooking and to light the fireplace.

About seven dogs as motors carrying the cart. We took a lot of photos, we went into a large cabin where they had some Siberian puppies, how pretty and tender, I carried one and my daughter too, they looked like stuffed animals.

We went out in a group with the bus in charge of guiding us and we left, further on we stopped at a place to eat in a restaurant. That place was very beautiful, quiet, with pure air and snow, a view like no other everywhere. Sometimes it is worth isolating yourself to a place like that.

Continuing in the adventure, the bus took us to the Escondido Lake, in the photo you will see the infinity of the lake, it looks dark because it was sunset but we were captivated by its beauty and harmony, an ideal place to daydream. We also visit Lake Fagnano, which looks more like the sea. Now, without wanting to take off from there, it was time to return to the city.

We had a great time in all the places we visited, we arrived at the hotel exhausted but happy and grateful for how well it was. Walking so much, buying souvenirs from Tierra del Fuego where people are so happy and friendly because Ushuaia is a super quiet place, far from the pollution and noise of a big city, people are happy and lucky to live in that place they told us.

The next day we said goodbye to the people at the hotel and went to the airport to return to Buenos Aires. Arriving in the capital we looked for a hotel to stay and with a taxi we went there, we left our things and the sun almost went down. We went to a restaurant for dinner, took a walk and returned to the hotel and what do you think happened? They told us that while we were going to dinner, some individuals came and robbed all the tourists who were sitting at the reception, they didn't get into the rooms to rob. We were saved because my daughter told me, let's eat something and at that moment what happened happened.

That night I couldn't sleep, on the one hand the robbery that took place, on the other hand some Spaniards who seemed to have insomnia and who talked like parrots without stopping and apart from that, in the next room, some boys who went to the bathroom that was outside the room every time and they were pulling the door every so often and with a laugh that didn't stop, I don't know why they laughed so much every time they went to the bathroom...

Well friends, the next day we asked the manager to change our floor and room and that's how it was, at least we had more tranquility and we slept better. In the morning the hotel breakfast was scrambled eggs with toast and juices. Finishing breakfast we went out to see the shopping centers, we entered a large one whose name was Fallabela that had all kinds of clothes, I was looking and buying, suddenly I turned around and I didn't see my daughter, I was so scared and I said: “God, Where did she go? I looked for her through the floors and could not find her and it increased my anguish because I didn't write down the name of the hotel, neither my phone nor my daughter's had a signal in that country. Well, after despairing a long time, my daughter appears going down the stairs and I tell her that where she had been but she didn't realize that I was looking for her and the fact is that with so many people there, I could not see her and I thought that she had left the mall to find me too. What a scare!

We continued walking and stopped at Plaza Dorrego where there was a fair of artisans who sold all kinds of very interesting things, then we went to an antique store in San Telmo and from there we arrived at the Law School in Recoleta, we took photos and next to it was the Parque de la Flor, very striking and very beautiful and clean, the photo says it all. We kept walking, our legs looked like iron all day walking.

We went into a Hard Rock Cafe, ate some vegetarian burgers and had a delicious coffee, spending a good time there to rest.

Entramos a un Hard Rock Café, comimos unas hamburguesas vegetarianas y tomamos un delicioso café quedándonos ahí un buen tiempo a descansar.

We passed through Plaza Francia and there a group of young rockers were playing music, we sat on the grass to enjoy the outdoor show, how good and fun that group called Viejos Comodines was, we stayed there for more than an hour and then we went to Plaza San Martín to see an open-air art exhibition of hearts.

That was the last day in the city of Buenos Aires, what more could you ask for, we had a great time where we went, despite some setbacks, a 25-day trip between Buenos Aires, Iguazú and Ushuaia, wonderful and fantastic places, Patagonia and waterfalls, an experience well marked in our hearts. At least this dream of visiting Argentina was fulfilled, and we always make comments with my daughter about all the places we visit, as they say, remembering is living.

I say goodbye my dear friends and I hope that reading my adventure will motivate you because life is one and everyone enjoys it in their own way and as they can. See you soon, a sincere and big greeting to all who follow me.
