MY TRIP TO SCOTLAND, CHAPTER TWO

avatar
Second day was decidedly more demanding, also characterized by a sunny day. With a group of tourists and a very nice Spanish guide we headed to the Low Land area, in my opinion the most beautiful area in Scotland, we visited Two beautiful castles, first of all that of Alnwick known to be the real Hogwartz, where some of the best shots of Harry Potter were filmed but also of other films such as Transformers for example, architecturally a spectacle of limestone blocks wedged on each other in a regular and uniform manner, with an extremely massive and elegant structure at the same time , all around huge expanses of green lawn and flower beds that you almost regret treading on, the gothic style is lost a little in this structure, the high and long windows remain but it acquires much more sides of a Romanesque architecture.

This part of the castle with this lantern is the part that I like the most is a truly wonderful internal courtyard. With particular processing blocks.

I foolishly try to fly with the broom but without success. I'm not an HP fanatic but I couldn't avoid a photo like that.

The Castle is really large one of the largest in all of Scotland and is still currently inhabited, there are areas of more recent construction that have been annexed and also a curious tree house where inside you can find a couple of small shops. souvenirs and a coffee shop, the hard part is crossing the wooden suspension bridges without spilling the coffee.

The second stop took us to one of my favorite places in all of Scotland, which I carry in my heart as an indelible memory is Bamburgh castle, aesthetically and architecturally perhaps less beautiful than that of Alnwick but with the privilege of laying the foundations on promontory overlooking the north sea. Four steps down from this promontory a very long golden beach, but the real show is the sea, cold as ice and blue like the ocean, I was really fascinated, on particularly clear days you can see a white island that shines in the north-eastern part of the coast, and this fact is due to the presence of a breed of small aquatic birds similar to penguins with a bright white breast that for reasons of food and migration occupy the island en masse, changing its color.

If you were to make a trip to Scotland these two castles are definitely two destinations not to be missed, and I'll tell you more, I found the trip to the lowlands more fascinating than the one to the highlands and Edinburgh is also much less distant.
