MY TRIP TO SCOTLAND, CHAPTER THREE

And here I am to tell the third chapter of this trip to Scotland that makes me relive some beautiful emotions. The morning of the third day we took it more calmly because after all it was also a holiday trip, after breakfast we headed to the Scottish national museum a super fascinating place with a completely different architecture from what you can find in Edinburgh. Inside there is really everything, it is an immense place divided over several floors and divided by sectors, from science and technology, to the history of the planet, minerals to the history of man and art in all its forms. A truly unusual type of museum very similar to the MUSE of Trento designed by architect Renzo Piano, the structure is certainly different but the tour setting is very similar.

I would like to pay homage to the restaurant where we were for lunch which I think was called The Cellar Door, where we were greeted in a fantastic way by the girl who worked there, the place is really nice, I think if I remember correctly it went downstairs to get to the room where we were welcomed, the environment is really nice but let's talk about the food, here I ate the best Fish and Chips of the whole trip, it was truly spectacular, they used a different breed of fish than usual that they call big nose, and it's really good, then the frying was much more delicate and the fish remained more crunchy, here I tried the haggis for the first time that from what you hear about it would seem a lousy thing, I quote the preparation to give you an idea: The sausage is filled with sheep entrails (heart, lung, liver), minced together with onion, kidney fat, oatmeal, salt and spices, mixed with broth. The filling, according to tradition, is stuffed into the animal's stomach, which is then boiled for about three hours. I assure you that what I ate was completely different, the meat had a delicate flavor, there was some spice a little more intense but I found it really good and I would eat it again!

In the afternoon to work off some lunch we set off To reach the top of Arthurs Seat, the hill that watches over the city of Edinburgh, to get there you have to go all the way down the Royal Mile and once you get to Holyrood palace you have to continue right following road that leads to the golf courses of the royals of Scotland, which by the way were really beautiful at this time, very bright green, and to take care of them it takes a lot of staff! Immediately on the right there is a path at the foot of the hill immersed in the fields of broom, because you must know that the scotland broom is a plant that is really found everywhere, it is a shrub with a low bush that has small yellow petals as flowers attached to the taller stem, they are truly spectacular and are the first thing you see from the plane during the landing maneuver to reach the airport, Arthur Seats is full of these flowers and in spring it turns a bright yellow!

The walk to reach the top is about half an hour, a little rough but I assure you that it is really worth it, because from the top you can admire the whole city of Edinburgh and take fantastic photos, I recommend you to go there in a clear day, which is hard to find in Scotland, and maybe if you like photos go there at sunrise or sunset, because you might be able to capture one of your best shots!

Today I will dwell a little more to tell you about one of the most beautiful experiences I have tried in Edinburgh and which I recommend to everyone, especially tea lovers. The signet library in Edinburgh, by reservation of course, can be accessed to experience a moment of tranquility as a true English nobleman, you will be greeted by the sound of the piano in a long room with tall white marble columns and shelves full of books. They will make you choose from some of the finest qualities of tea, which I assure you I didn't even know existed, the place is magnificent and creates a unique atmosphere, as an accompaniment to tea they will bring you pretzels and pastries on a silver tray, so beautiful I almost regret eating them, I found everything really at the top, but beware the price is not that of the usual tea you drink everywhere, but for a once in a lifetime experience, I think it's a must try!
