Sai Khao Beach, Back Stone Beach and Lipe's surroundings

avatar

Hey Hive! Today I’d like to continue sharing photos from Koh Lipe and its surroundings with you. On our second day here we didn’t only do snorkeling. There are some amazing surrounding islands to visit and we tried not to miss any of them. I also skipped diving in one of the snorkeling places in order to take some nice shots with the drone but I’ll explain more about that later on because it wasn’t easy to pull off.

Sai khao Beach - White Sand Beach

White sand beach is arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. The sand is pure white powder, the water crystal clear and at the same time vividly colored in turquoise. Many trees alongside the beach line throw some nice shade during the day and under them there’s a small place you can have some lunch or visit a restroom.

There were some attractions around as well like these different swings. Nat sure had some fun around. :D

I had to climb up the tree as well for a pose. I rarely have any photos of me because I'm the one walking around with the cameras but this one I quite like.

The place is surrounded by jungle so naturally there are monkeys you should look out for, since they are only waiting for a moment to steal some food or drink from your table. This year around though we only saw them while we were leaving and they were keeping some distance. On the other hand there were some massive crows doing their job. Managed to take some nice pictures of them.

The beach line is super long. At this time of year it was filled with small crabs crawling around the sad. On one side is where all the boats would coast and on the other you could swim or enjoy the beautiful water without any vehicles distracting you.

Here's one of the little critters roaming around on the sand. There were so many of them but this is the best photo I got of them.

We had some lunch here, took some photos and videos and headed to the next place on the list.

Black Stone Island

DSCF0439.jpg

Black stone island is a fairly small one. What’s interesting is the whole shore is covered in these black stones. To be honest it is my least favorite place around here. We even skipped coming here last time we were in Lipe. I didn’t have swimming shoes so stepping on the stones barefoot hurts and is quite slippery. Had to juggle about with the camera till I got off the boat and onto dry land.

This is usually a pretty quick stop for tourists since it is fairly small and there isn’t that much to be seen. After sticking around for a bit we took our leave as well.

Surroundings from above

This is Koh Lipe from a far. The island is pretty big. I have a bit closer photo of it from when we were on the island itself. I had to fly almost 3 km away in order to catch the whole island.

Taking out the drone here was tricky. While everyone else was diving to see some nice colorful colors I took the opportunity to fly around and see the picture from above. There were two problems with that. First - flying a drone around here isn’t exactly allowed. I had to wait for the staff locals to leave before I could do anything. Once they did I had to take off from our tiny boat. Taking off wasn’t hard but landing was the problem. The boat was constantly swinging and the only flat area I could land on was surrounded by obstacles. It did take quite a while to land without crashing or dropping in the water. For the first time landing in a spot like this though, I was quite happy with the outcome.

This is the island where Black Rock beach is at. You can see the black rocks on the right side.

This little island was just beside us. You can actually see the boat in the first photo. The others were snorkeling right next to it. I flew around this one quite a lot and took a bunch of videos as well flying very close by and inbetween the rocks. I hope it is a usable footage.. :D

This small island was also nearby right opposite Lipe. None of these were islands to coast on. They are fairly small to accomodate more than one boat at a time. I guess the locals leave them alone for the most part.

There are so many small islands around Lipe and some that are even bigger than Lipe itself. We were pretty much in the middle of it all so it gave me a great opportunity to explore on all sides.

As I'm getting really close to my upload limit I'll save the last bit from the resort and sunsets from Koh Lipe for my last post from here. I hope you liked the photo spam for this segment and I will be happy to see you back in the next one! Have a great end of the week and I'll see you soon!

Would be cool if you actually used the boat to get to that little island, its like an adventure! If there are no sharks, are there any?
