Hoy nos vamos a Portugal a recordar lo que vi en el año 2018 cuando tuve la oportunidad de viajar a ese país que me sorprendió gratamente. Vamos a conocer Cabo da Roca
The Cape of the Rock is the westernmost point of continental Portugal and therefore of the Iberian Peninsula, continental Europe and Eurasia. It was known by the Romans as Promontorium Magnum, and during the age of sailing as the Rock of Lisbon.

t was very difficult for us to reach the place where the monument's plaque is located. Everyone wanted to have a photo in that place as a souvenir of that emblematic place on the Portuguese coast.
We had to stand in a long line and then make ourselves understood to those before us to have our photo taken. We had to take a picture of an Asian family who spoke very fast and wanted many pictures. Those are the nice moments that you don't forget on your travels.
Nos costó mucho llegar al lugar en el que está la placa del monumento Todos querían tener una foto en ese sitio como recuerdo de ese lugar tan emblematico de las costas portuguesas.
Tuvimos que hacer una larga fila y luego hacernos entender con los que nos precedían para que nos tomaran la foto. A nosotros nos tocó hacérsela a una familia de asiáticos que hablaban muy rápido y querían muchas fotografías. Esos son los momentos simpáticos que no se olvidan en los viajes.
Many people were walking there but apart from seeing the beauty of the sea and approaching the monument there is not much else to do. The lighthouse is closed and we were informed that there is a store near the tourist office but it was also closed.
Mucha gente andaba caminando por allí pero aparte de ver la hermosura del mar y acercarse al monumento no hay mucho más por hacer. El faro está cerrado y según nos informaron hay una tienda cerca de la oficina de turismo pero también estaba cerrada.
The cliffs are 140 meters deep and there is no protection. I felt a bit of vertigo as I got very close to the edge.

During our excursion we could observe the changes in the sky, clouds and reflections playing between the sky and the sea giving a special touch to the environment.

The monument can be seen from a distance. I couldn't get any data about its height but it looks impressive. At the end of the stone monolith there is a cross rubbing the sky which produces a feeling of peace.

The westernmost point of continental Europe is a wild beauty. I am pleased that this is the case and that tourism is only passing through and that it is brief. There is much to see, much to learn and worth enjoying in its natural state.

The Lighthouse of Cabo da Roca was the first to be built in Portugal is 150 meters above the sea. Its construction dates from 1772 and allows to see its light at 46 Km of distance.

The place itself is quite untamed, but it is worth looking at the cliffs and knowing the details surrounding the history of the lighthouse.
