Haveyoubeenhere, Pinmapple And The Huge Potential We Have Here

(Edited)

I've been using both of these dapps, @pinmapple even before it became @pinmapple, back on the old chain. Travel and document my travels is part of my life and could not live without it.

Haveyoubeenhere And Pinmapple

Hive and the old chain are the best place to share my experience with other users and these two dapps are a big help in bringing together like minded, travel enthusiasts and those who are eager to learn about the world, see places but for a number of reasons they can't travel.

On a user level many of the content creators can only see the upvotes they may get on a travel post, especially if that post is featured in the daily compilation, in which case it is supported by both @theycallmedan and @blocktrades. This is great, a huge help and with this occasion I'd like to thank them both for supporting this amazing community and @ocd as well as now @haveyoubeenhere community has been selected by the latter to take part in the community incubator program. As I said, this is great, but there's much more here to exploit, much, much more!

There's Much More Here

Before any travel, most of us like to look around and learn as much as possible about the destination, accommodation, places to visit, read reviews to be as prepared as possible. So what do we do? We visit travel sites, trip advisor sites, booking sites etc.

While these are great as they give you a lot of info you need, let's not forget that these websites and apps are operated by companies, thus centralized. Users can leave reviews, rate hotels, restaurants, but as long as one entity is controlling everything, there's a possibility of tailoring those reviews as they like. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, just pointing out there's a possibility of tampering with the reviews as money is involved, some of those reviews can hurt some businesses pretty badly, which could lead to losing clients.

As you all know, Hive blockchain is owned by no one particularly, there are witnesses who make it possible for the blockchain to exist and while deleting posts is possible to some extent, the content can't be deleted entirely. If you know where to look, you can find deleted content on previous blocks. That's the beauty of it and it's a huge step towards decentralization on every level.

So what if instead of these company run travel websites, people could use Hive to prepare their trips? Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Hive has the huge advantage of having users from all over the world, literally, starting from the big metropolitan cities, to the most hidden villages in every corner of the world. Everyone can write a travel post, even without leaving your hometown or village. There's plenty to see in each city or village, you just have to take some quality photos and tell about the place as much as possible.

Throughout pinmapple, we can map the whole world! Literally! Look at those pins all over the world, those mean there are blog posts pinned to those places.

All you have to do is type the name of the place you're interested in and you'll get all the post listed.

You can click the link you like that will take you to the post.

You can find posts about places you had no idea exist.

The best thing about it is that Haveyoubeenhere is available for iOS and Android, which means you can share your experience on the go. You can post using your smartphone while still on vacation, or better yet, you can check what's on the blockchain about the place you're about the visit, while you're there, get ideas and the information you need.

Imagine one day (very soon) people choosing Hive instead the other travel platforms. We can get there very soon and let's not forget it's a way of onboarding new users as well.

Before you say anything, I'm not part of Haveyoubeenhere or Pinmapple, nor have I been asked to write this post. But I'd like to say a big thank you to @martibis, @livinguktaiwan, @choogirl, @itchyfeetdonica and @lizanomadsoul for working hard to curate and do compilation posts and all the other users who are working behind the scenes.

Hive is what we make it to be and we have the best chance to become no. 1! So let's do it! Go check out these apps and start using them, create quality content and show the other users the places you've been to!

I recently started using @pinmapple and I can not believe I was missing out all that time!
Having your own personal travel map is awesome and finding info (blogs/vlog etc.) about places all over the world with just one click is epic!
