Trip to some cities in the north of my country - Compilation | Portugal
Hi everyone :)
Let´s go for a nice compilation, this time with some cities in the north of Portugal... here we go :)
There are many, but when it comes to the north of Portugal the first one that comes to mind is Porto, inevitably the second largest city in the country after the capital Lisbon.
It´s not because i´m from Porto, but in fact the capital of Portugal should be in Porto, land of cultured and entrepreneurial people, land of customs, people with perseverance, where we can find the largest industrial facilities in the country, where the most brilliant and creative minds are born.... ok, i could say that i am exaggerating, but i am not, it is the truth, of course there is also this spread all over the country, but it´s in this city that there is a greater concentration of everything that exists of good in this country, and perhaps for that very reason it has collected in recent years several awards from the best European destination to visit.
Of course, there is a huge economic component associated with such a desirable destination, which ended up resulting in a massive influx of tourists that on the one hand contributed to the revitalization of the city, but as in all cities that suffer from a massive tourist influx, it ended up losing some of its essence in favor of fleeting satisfaction, even resulting in the removal of its inhabitants from the great center to the peripheries in order to give rise to a whole hotel renovation that could satisfy the needs of those who go there to spend a vacation.
Another not less important city is the city of Gaia, which is on the other side of the Douro River, connected by the city's icon, the Luis I bridge, an Ex libris of the city.
That bank of the river is full of cellars that store the famous Port wine and the surface is full of restaurants and places of fun and leisure, and is in this same place, on that river bank that you can glimpse the Ribeira do Porto in all its splendor, with the Torre dos Clérigos and the Cathedral peeking from the top of the hill.
Further away but also very important is the city of Guimarães, where the Castle of the first King of Portugal D. Afonso Henriques is located, with which i share the second name;) here is the birthplace of Portugal, a city full of historic buildings and a central square always full of people arriving and departing in a crazy movement.
The city has many mysteries and hidden secrets. Getting lost here and escaping the main streets can be a great experience.
That´s all for today :)
See you soon
Thank you for watching :)
