Trip through Northern Portugal | Manifestation of art on the walls

COVER.jpg

Hi everyone :)

This time we are going to take a walk through the north of Portugal, but contrary to what i have done in previous articles, in which i shared specific places and their characteristics in compilation mode, sharing some images of landscapes, beaches and even the Portuguese coast, once that half of the country is bathed by the ocean, this time i will share some street art that i have been recording over some of the visits made to these places.
In total, there are 7 places that compose this compilation, starting in the city of Porto and ending in Aveiro, passing through Guimarães, Viana do Castelo, Angeiras, Maia and Mindelo, all of them in the north of the country.
Starting with the city of Porto, passing through the Codeçal stairs, right next door to the famous Cais da Ribeira, one of the oldest and most typical places in the city, being the first step in front of the bridge Luis I, with a total of 496 stairs that lead us to the upper deck of the Bridge.
After going through the first set of steps we come face to face with the first paintings on the walls that stretch along the climb.
Unfortunately, you can also see many doodles that somehow spoil the scene, but it is part, each one expresses himself in the way he knows best.

This time in Guimarães, and perhaps because the visit was mainly in the historic part of the city, i did not find any paintings on the walls, all of them were perfectly restored and clean, so i decided to share this record of another type of art facing the street, prepared by another type of artists with different abilities and who also represent this Portuguese craft very well, the famous decorative art in blue tiled tiles.
Later on i will share some more similar art.
This type of art is very common in Portugal, being part of the country's architectural culture.

In Viana do Castelo, when I went through those narrow streets, i found the captain from the area pictured in a rounded corner, a very Banksy-style piece, he just lacked the political message and would leave anyone thinking, but according to the Massive Attack agenda, there is no record that they passed nearby ... for those who do not understand the possible connection, will think i am crazy:P

In Angeiras, land of fishermen, a small town whose main livelihood comes from the sea, it was in a small square near a siren that was already inoperative that replaced the lighthouse on foggy days, that i found another panel of blue tiles with the representation of a religious figure that, according to what was told me, would have been made and placed there with the symbolism of protecting those who left for the high seas.

Now further away from the coast and in a more city-like place, in the City of Maia, on a stroll during lunchtime that i dedicated to visiting various places to record and share their characteristics and stories, i found these two murals painted by art students from college and who are exposed to the culture forum.

Returning to the coast, in a place called Mindelo, which despite having its origin in a fishing village, today is more urbanized and directed towards tourism, but it was in one of those old houses that functioned as workshops where fishermen kept all the fishing material, that i found the next paintings ... I have an idea that the last time i spent there they were not, or maybe they were more interesting ones, i don't really like the aesthetics of these, but it's not about what i like, but what it is, and as the title indicates, they are manifestations of art on the walls :P

To finish, only now i realized that distributed the pieces alternately, and here is another piece made in tile, which i found on a very narrow street in the beautiful city of Aveiro and which also depicts the relationship between the people of that city and the sea, in this case the river.

That´s all for today :)

See you soon
Thank you for watching :)
