Too Expensive to Replace if Lost

Glasses?
groan
I don't want to wear glasses. I feel I'm as hobbled as a race horse in the big race day.

It's subtle; losing your vision. One day you see and the next you notice something is missing. Crossing the center line at night diving home was the red button moment. Driving glasses came first. Just wear them for work. Skip ahead a few more years and now I can't see at my desk to read the computer. The computer is, in my humble option, the largest contributer following old age.

Hand held devices? Throw them into the list.

I buy pretty glasses to to placate myself. The cost is divided by 365 days. They're a fashion accessory second to sight. It works out and my flex card pays most of it.

I skip round glasses. I shared my nerd picture with nearly round glasses. What was I thinking.

I'm not blind, so there's that.
I really do miss reading regular books. Large print takes up a lot of space!

Haha! Hi-five ✋ on this! I only use it watching television, I wish I followed my doctor's instructions. Risky but I still need to learn to love them.

I've worn glasses since I was 12 years old. My teacher noticed me squinting at the blackboard, and alerted my parents. Once I got the glasses, I was amazed at how clearly I could see each individual tree on the mountain across the river. I had no idea! I moved on to bifocals quite a few years ago, but I still can't read for a long time with them on, so I take them off and hold the book up to my nose. I had contacts lenses for just a couple of years, in my twenties, and loved looking at the world without a frame. But my eyes didn't like contacts. Now my biggest problem with glasses is if I set them down in a dumb place; I can't find my glasses without my glasses. Oh dear.

I've had glasses off and on during my life. For a long stretch I didn't have to wear them because what initiated my eye problems was lazy eye as a child. They were going to force me to wear glasses when I got my driver's license later im life (30ish). When I turned around 46 is when I started losing the vision. Fast forward and I wish I still had that level of vision now! I stopped being able to see people's faces down the hallway at work. I use my phone to read through Kindle and just make the letters. That just means I'm staring at a blue light screen even longer! I just started doing some research on large print books. I never wanted to have to own them LOL.

They do, for the most part. I miss reading books as apposed to digital books. I ordeded a large print devotional for the first time. It's rather nice to read something on paper.

Cat eyes are cool! I got my first pair of glasses in 4th grade. I suddenly became unable to see the teachers writing on the chalk board... It wasn't helpful to my self esteem for years afterward and I wouldn't wear them unless I had to. Fast forward to going out with friends to bars and clubs in my twenties and I didn't have contact lens and didn't wear my glasses. Not my best idea when I found out I had no idea if the girls were smiling at me or looking past me at someone else. Haha. I missed out on meeting them standing around wondering what was going on. Might seem silly now but I might have had a much more enjoyable time way back when :)

Thank you for sharing this story... I know that when we are younger were so worried about appearances and perceptions. When I was very young I had cat eye glasses and I felt really awkward. I didn't have to wear them until I was driving and then I was told that I must wear them to drive. Now I have no option, I can't see in front of my face LOL.

Yes! I had to wear mine driving too. It seems wearing glasses is way cooler now. Maybe not in school but definitely by college haha.
