Just Me Bellyaching

I've been in a lot of pain of late and not a pill out there seems to be able to knock it out.

This is my first two weeks into quarantine. Almost everybody in the office left with a laptop and monitor to work from home. At first I didn't go because my internet has a data cap.

When Pennsylvania State Governor, Tom Wolfe, said that he would fine companies to remain open if they are non-essential businesses I called my internet provider to ask if it will create a data overage..They are kindly going to waive any data overages during this pandemic.

I injured my back somehow cleaning and preparing an area for an office right next to my bed in my bedroom. I thought that it had worked its way out and have even gone out walking for a couple of miles in between now and then but the pain persists and then Thursday night I was up most of the night, unable to sleep because of the severity of pain.

I worked through the day Friday and it was very, very difficult. I ended up getting sick, barely making it to the bathroom, an hour and a half before quitting time. Fortunately, there was not much call volume. All I could do was count minutes to quitting time. I laid down on my bed to wait for my last calls. I can be thankful I had that option. I would never have made it to 4:30 in the office.

Jeff came over after work to cook chicken soup in the Instapot. His company is paying him to stay home due to the pandemic. Because Lasik surgery and the machines are considered non-essential he has just been biding time doing small things at home to keep busy and some administrative tasks for work. The soup was delicious and I went to bed right after. Today my low back and hip is still really sore. I am taking the steroid and hopefully it will reduce the nerve pain.

So cool that your internet provider is helping with data! Feel better.

Yes, thank you for reading, I was grateful for that. There are still a handful of employees that for whatever reason have no way to work from home in the office.

You got some terrible back pain too, eh? Yeah, same here. Been almost 2 weeks. Lots of pressure in my mid-back and neck. I know some of it is from sitting at the computer, and bad posture... but lately it's been extremely intense. I usually rarely take pain medication for such things but I have been compelled to just to make it through the day and sleep.

Sending up prayers that you get some relief. I use biofreeze from my physical therapist office and it affords temporary relief. It's stronger than what is sold in stores. Hope you feel better soon.

poor thing. And good thing that you were working right next to your bed. My back has been really bad as well.
I am applying a lot of heat, have been doing stretches, and I got a CBD ointment that seems to be helping a lot.
Hope your back will be fine soon!!

I'm sorry to hear that you are also suffering. I purchased a Hemp cream on Amazon a while ago but it pretty much is ineffective. The biofreeze from my chiropractor helps temporarily, and I use heat, ice and extra strength Tumeric. I pray it subsides since it's back to sitting all week. I really miss my standing desk in the office. Take care!

At least, at home, you can stand up in between easier. Do you have one of those big exercise balls? I find sitting on them helps to have a better posture

I do have a ball and although it's ok for around an hour after that this injury makes me give it up. I have been standing as much as the job permits. I miss my standing work desk:( have a good evening.

Quarantine is hard enough; back pain makes it even harder!
Some here have posted about dry-needling to the rescue after all else had failed. Acupuncture, rolfing, deep breathing, acupressure mats, yoga moves, peppermint oil, those white patches that contain aspirin (Salon Pas), chiropractic... I hope you find something that works!

Thank you for all the suggestions! I am working through lists of things to do, some of the exercises I found on YouTube seem to be helping. One day at a time! I hope you are well and continue to stay well.
