Podemos Decidir

No decidí el lugar donde nací
y tampoco los padres que recibí.
No elegí el primer idioma que aprendí,
ni los valores que absorbí;
y mucho menos elegí,
el hermano con que crecí.

Hay muchas cosas que no decidimos
y a pesar de ello,
seguimos creciendo,
mientras vamos aprendiendo que,
el tiempo pasa, te acompaña y,
si quieres detenerlo,
te tira acuesta;
si quieres usarlo,
te puede agobiar;
pero si quieres vivirlo,
lo puedes disfrutar.

Hoy, puedo estar agradecido
por todo lo que recibí
aunque no lo decidí,
en especial, por este día más de vida…
que, aunque puede no ser el más deseado,
es la oportunidad que nos brinda el tiempo
para que logremos decidir,
si vas a donde sopla el viento
o si caes donde se inhala el lamento.

No elegimos donde comenzamos,
pero podemos decidir,
si nos quedamos
o si nos vamos…
cambiar nuestra condición,
es una cuestión de elección.

Por eso, elijo vivir mi tiempo,
para disfrutar cada momento;
decido ir donde acaricia el viento,
para tener tranquilidad e impulso,
y caminar así, cada día,
hacia un mejor futuro.

We Can Decide

I did not decide where I was born
and neither did I choose the parents I received.
I did not choose the first language I learned,
nor the values I absorbed;
much less did I choose
the brother I grew up with.

There are many things we did not decide
and in spite of that,
we continue to grow,
as we learn that,
time goes by, it goes with you and,
if you want to stop it,
it pulls you to bed;
if you want to use it,
it can overwhelm you;
but if you want to live it,
you can enjoy it.

Today, I can be grateful
for everything I received
even though I didn't choose to,
especially for this one more day of life...
which, although it may not be the most desired,
is the opportunity that time gives us
for us to decide,
whether you go where the wind blows
or if you fall where the lament is inhaled.

We do not choose where we start,
but we can decide,
whether we stay
or if we leave...
to change our condition,
is a matter of choice.

That is why I choose to live my time,
to enjoy every moment;
I choose to go where the wind caresses,
to have peace of mind and momentum,
and walk like this, every day,
towards a better future.
