This is my post for #freewriters Sunday prompt horse race hosted by @mariannewest

When the state of Florida took my childhood home Dad moved us to Missouri. I had saved up my money from working for Dad in the store, and when he found a new home for us I bought a horse, it was on 200 acres. She came with a 3-month colt. After I had her a few months, one by one Dad bought a horse for everyone. We had 8 horses. Sugar was my horse, my Dad had Beauty, my stepmother's horse was Blonde, one brother had Bullet, another had Warrior, another had Blue, one sister's horse was Candy, the other sister had Dolly.

We went on many trail rides with other people, which was a lot of fun. After the rides, everyone got together and someone would play the fiddle, someone would sing, there was lots of dancing and having a good time. The kids, this included me would see who had the fastest horse by having a horse race. My horse was old and never won but I feel she gave it all she had and that was good enough for me.

One funny thing about my horse, she would let two people ride her if you both sat on the saddle, if one sat behind the saddle she would buck until she threw them off. Bareback she would not let two people ride her.

We had all sorts of critters on my dad's hobby farm, but never a horse. Consequently, I still find them awfully big.

They are big but also brought me so much joy, I would spend hours brushing and talking to my horse.

Bullet and Warrior...I wonder about these horses.
You kept them till they died?

I do not think any died they were sold as we aged or moved on. Warrior was a stallion until he was 8 years old, he was a mighty horse. Bullet was the colt that came with my horse, my little brother named him because he was fast.
