This is my post for #freewrite Friday prompt what came before hosted by @mariannewest

We have all heard of the Baby Boomer Generation, Generation X, Millennials but what came before? I found this chart explaining the generations on https://www.everything-birthday.com/generations

Lost Generation 1890-1905/ 116-131 years old aka-Generation of 1914, A large portion of the Lost Generation fought in World War I, and thus was named after those lost in the great war. The Lost Generation lived through both world wars, the great depression, and the Vietnam war.

Interbellum Generation 1901-1913/ 108-120 years old, aka-Interbellum. The Interbellum Generation grew up in the roaring twenties and faced the start of the great depression. This generation was too young to fight in WWI but too old for WWII The Interbellum generation grew up as the Auto industry started to expand in the United States, and were the first generation to not rely on horses as a means of transportation.

Greatest Generation 1910-1925/ 96-111 years old, aka-G.I. Generation, "The Greatest Generation" was coined by journalist Tom Brokaw. They grew up in the midst of the great depression, then went on to fight in World War II. The best generation lived through and likely helped with WWII.

Silent Generation 1923-1944/ 77-98 years old, aka-Traditionalists, Mature Contrary to their name, the Silent Generation tended to be very patriotic and ambitious. They were plagued with the Korean war, and economic instability following WWII The silent Gen was born into a fortunate time period associated with wealth, and high education.

Baby Boomer Generation 1945-1964/ 57-76 years old, aka-Baby Boomers, The Baby Boomers were named after the explosion of babies that were born following the end of World War II. The number of babies born during this time period was roughly 50% higher than average. Generally considered a product of WWII, Baby Boomers are now reaching the age of retirement.

Generation X 1961-1979/ 42-60 years old, aka-Gen X, Generation X was born soon after the baby boomers are associated with the hippie era. They are often perceived as directionless and disaffected. Generation X grew up right at the start of the technological revolution, is considered comfortable with technology, but not tethered to it as younger generations.

Millennials Generation 1980-1995/ 26-41 years old, aka-Gen Y, The Millennials or Generation Y, reached maturity soon after the turn of the millennium, and grew up in the middle of the computer revolution Millennials reached maturity right in the midst of the technological revolution, and are making a big impact everywhere.

Centennials 1996-2010/ 11-25 years old iGen, aka-Gen Z, Generation Z was born in the late 1990s through 2010. The first generation born with easy access to the internet and is often associated with being tethered to technology. Generation Z is often referred to as post-millennials, the iGeneration, or Homeland Generation.

Generation Alpha 2011-2025/ 0-10 years old aka-Gen Alpha, Generation Alpha, or the 'Next Generation' are still very young, being born between 2011 and 2025 Generation alpha is still very young. Being born into the modern world this generation will have exciting opportunities and challenges to face in the near future.

I found this interesting. I hope it is allowed because I copied most of it.

No fishing today, the weather is still bad and it is not going to stop blowing until sometime next week. We had to go to the outboard shop today and buy a new zinc for my motor the old one was eaten up. Zincs are used to stop electrolyze from eating the motor, it eats the zinc, which is what happened to this one.

The Fourth Turning: An American Prophecy – What the Cycles of History Tell Us About America’s Next Rendezvous with Destiny is on my re-read shelf. It divides generations into approximately 20-year periods with a cycle of four archetypes.

That book could be a good read or a scary read. Let me know what you think of it.
