Today I took my new castnet up the creek, the first thing I found out was that I need to put tuck strings in it. I thought a 3 and 1/2 inch mesh would gill a large goat but they are too big, it gills a small goat which I do not care to catch. So we do have work to do on my new net. The second thing was the wind was brutal, with no way to control my boat, it was hard to get it to the place that I wanted to fish. We use a trolling motor mounted on the bow and drive with our foot but I do not have one on my boat so I had to just drift and spent a lot of time pushing myself out of the trees.

I just wanted to know if my net would work so I did not stay that long. After catching some goats and seeing the big ones just nose in it I knew my net would not work.

As I was leaving I saw a guy going up the creek, I have talked to him at the boat ramp before but can not remember his name, it is either Brad, Brian, or Mike so I called him BBM when I told my husband about him. I asked BBM what has he been catching up there and he said sailcats, I asked who is buying them because the fish house I sell to does not buy them. He told me the other one buys them and pays 60cent a pound.

Then I get home and tell my husband about the sailcats and he tells me that the people fishing the inlet has started catching fish, we are going to the inlet in the morning and if there is nothing there we will go to the other fish house and see if they will buy sailcats from us.
