Project Bag - A Freewrite

I have to admit it. I have been mean to the Freewriters of the world - at least to the ones of my little verse of Freewriting buddies.
Some of the words I have chosen are right out of my life a and many are new to me - or if not new, I learned their meaning more deeply. Woke was one of those words - and project bag is another.
It so happens that I started to do handiwork ever since I was a little kid. Those were the times I grew up in. Little girls learned how to be good little knitters and embroidered and whatever else one can do with fabric and such. Even repairing stuff - like socks with holes in the heel - was one of the things you had to learn.
And the idea was to make it as invisible as possible. Maybe [art of my revolution against the oppressive rule of my upbringing let me later to rather sew a new outfit than to fix a broken one.
I know that some people love to mend - and I am not one of those people. Alter something - no thank you. Let's create something new.
That doesn't necessarily mean that the old piece gets thrown away - actually, no way Jose.
We don't want to create more trash - and by we I mean me and I am hoping that you are on board with me.
5 minutes over
Did you know that the average person today throws 80 lbs of clothing in the trash every year?
That is insane!!!
The clothing industry is a huge source of pollution in the world - and of all other inequalities.
But what I was going to write about was a project bag. But I have strayed too far that at least I want to tell you about the one thing this freewrite let me to - mending.
I just attended a presentation and bought the book presenting a new way of mending.
Instead of hiding the hole or stain, it is embraced, even emphasized and becomes a focal point of an outfit!
Loving the idea of turning the former undesirable into the star!
Oh - and the project bag. That is the thing that holds your knitting...:)

I have a favorite hoodie that has become an art project with all the holes I've mended. Better and more fun than filling the landfill!

I've been wondering where you have been getting these ... challenging prompts from .... but this was a good stream of consciousness, though...
