  • Start writing
  • Use the hashtag #freewrite
  • Publish your piece (include a link to this post if you wish)

Writing help

  • A free app: Grammarly. A lot of us are not native English speakers and I am finding it a helpful app. It will underline spelling and grammar mistakes. Just remember that is is not always right -especially if you use complex sentence structures. Here is the link

  • Remember The Most Dangerous Writing App. You set the time - 5 min - and start typing. Don’t stop!!! It will destroy what you wrote if you stop for more than 3 seconds - and backspace does not count as writing on the app. If you are prone to stop and think - this app forces you to keep going. You can make corrections after the 5 minutes are over.

  • A timer. Egg timer is a free tool you can use on your desktop to set a time. This is useful for our freewrites or if you want to work in blocks of time and then take a break. Here is the link

The genie spoke. "It's your birthday. You get a wish. Who or what do you want to bring back? Choose only one of the five following scenarios."

"Relive your youth, except with both of your parents alive. Life was hard for you. Despite living with your grandfather, you had to manage on your own. There was no way that alcoholic would ever pass as an acceptable father figure. This would surely set up your life into health and wealth."

"Bring back your first love. Get to know how she's matured. Get a second shot at the perfect romance you've ruined. She's single now, and you two would have been the perfect couple, if you hadn't embarrassed her in front of her entire family on her birthday."

"Let the world stay exactly as it is."

"Receive..." That's when I stopped the genie.

The third option was the right one. There is no reason to change my life - I am proud of what I've achieved. I choose the destiny I've carved on my own.
