Hi @Owasco! I couldn't resist!

It had been nearly a century since they'd first gotten together. He'd grown into a silver fox. Ha, not literally, of course, though I can see why you'd ask that, seeing as he was a frog before. No, simply an attractive, ancient man. And she had reached the age of arthritis with every blossom in her cheek still in bloom. They made a handsome "Your Highnesses".

The princess paused in front of bullfrog and bent down so he could look into her eyes.

"Yep, just as I suspect, full of mirth and mischief." Bullfrog chortled "what tricks are you planning my dear? Nothing too exciting I hope?"

"Oh not much, dear heart. I'd just heard that our grandchildren would be visiting this afternoon, and I'm afraid they're going to have to get past an entire pirate armada if they want to dine with us."

"Our grandchildren are in their 40s with children of their own. Did you mean our great grandchildren?"

"No, dear. Our great grandchildren are much too young to fend off these pirates. They shall dine with us while we all laugh at what buffoons their parents are."

"I love you, dear heart."

"I love you, too, swamp bottom."

I am so glad you couldn't resist!!! I thought of a great many ways this story could go, but a pirate armada was not among them! I love this love story. Thank you for continuing my story!

LOL - I read this after I wrote my own we-write. Grandchildren! I guess they come with the territory of rheumy eyes and rheumatic joints. :)

At least the "all" laugh at being the old buffoons... my story took a different turn. Not so Happily Ever After for the usurpers!

Yes! Grandchildren, love, mischief! You and @improv both nailed those aspects, aspects I was feeling as I wrote my bit. I'm delighted to have you both with me on this one.
Thank you thank you thank you!
