For the last time / In memory of Sharon

avatar

You may have gone from my sight, but you are never gone from my heart.

I had always wanted to type a blog in memory of Sharon, @fitinfun, but I did not know how because I am not good at expressing how I feel accurately with words. I know I will struggle if someone asks me to prepare a speech for eulogy. But the prompt today prompted this short write up.

IMG_20180805_205246.jpg

I didn't get to say good bye when you passed on at hospital on 28th March 2020, at that time, Covid19's cases were serious at our area and no hospital visits were allowed. But I remembered vividly the first time we met on 5th August 2018. You arrived at Kuala Lumpur with no friends and no relatives around. Marianne prompted us of your coming here and we could not be happier to meet you. That was also the day we knew you loved mocha coffee, coriander, herbs, etc. We were overjoyed to buy you many stuffs and pampered you with hospitality and generosity.

Sharon, you had lived as your handle was, fitinfun. Through you, I found out that no matter how difficult a challenge was, you could still smile and find humour in it. You told me how you lost weight, and through you, I knew I am not obese.

Even when your health was not so good, you did not see it as a challenge. No matter how painful you felt in your joints, you made itna point to blog, to earn a living, to try your best. You were the strongest person I have ever met. Your laugh was contagious. You were generous in your knowledge and sharing. You were wise.

I miss buying groceries with you and for you. I miss hearing you talk about people you highly admired and honored like @mariannewest and @canadian-coconut and many more. I love hearing your love for @steemitmamas, @freewriters, @teammalaysia, @socal people and another community wayyy before @socal but I forget the name, something like Tsu. I love hearing you crack a humor out of a problem. I miss bringing you to eat at our local restaurants and introducing you our local food. I love when we talked about our differences. I miss teaching you our language and laughed about pronunciation. I could not type anymore as these memories will make me tears.

I was waiting for you to be discharged so that I could pass you some Chinese New Year snacks and biscuits you mentioned you would love to try - the almond biscuits and Sesame biscuits, and kuih bangkit and kuih kapet. You did not get to eat them for now you are feasting in eternity.

Dear Sharon,

I did not get to see you for the last time, I did not get to give you my last hugs but, one day we will meet again in the glory. There, we will get to exchange hugs and kisses. There, we are all healthy, beautiful and young. Meanwhile, when I continue the race here on earth, I will remember your advice — always fit in fun in everything we do. See you again in eternity.

What a beautiful smile you have, and I remembered you thanked me so many times for bringing you here, and buying you great food and food that tasted like home. If I may, I would bring you again. And again. But, cut down on those fried stuff, will ya, 'coz they are bad for joints. Remember, don't steal my french fries haha.

That was really nice. I miss her. Sharon was one of the very first people to notice me on steem, and she gave me encouragement and help right up until she was unable to do much of anything, a generous person to the end.

Yes, she is very generous. Always tell me she wants to help good author whom is not noticed by whales etc. A good legacy she had passed behind.

Thank you for posting this ... I only knew Sharon for a little while on Steem, but she helped me in my continuing weight loss journey and with just knowing how to work things the best way for the platform. I was not surprised but SO HURT when I found out that she had passed, and that added to the hurt around the end of Steem for many of us. I wish that she could have experienced Hive ... but her memory is here on the blockchain as well as in our hearts.

Yes. When the transfer to Hive happened, she was at hospital, already quite ill. Her memory is definitely here on the blockchain as well as in our hearts, like you said.

Such beautiful words. She is remembered and missed by many. But she is there looking out for her loved ones from up above.

All I can say is life is a gift and it’s unpredicted. So live each and every moment to the fullest. Love Laugh Live.

God bless you all.. tight hugs 🤗

I still find it strange that she's no longer with us. A testament to this global community that she is missed by a family that's not her own, but will remember her as much. Lovely to see those photos x
