Inspector

When leaving the mayor's office, Andrew perceived that his position had to be exercised with great sanity, so one of the things he was going to implement was to become an inspector of the funds allocated to the nursing home, ensuring that they were not destined for other purposes.

That is why first he went to the mayor's budget office, there he reviewed the books with the balances and the funds that were available, this information then he had planned to contrast with the head of the nursing home and his collaborators. .

When he left that office, he now remembered that he had unfinished business to clarify in terms of the city's historical memory, so now he valued the new position more since he could perhaps meet some old man with extensive information about the city's past.

Call to Mindy

Angeline was happy that her work in the nursing home gave her many satisfactions, having met Charles's old acquaintance from her father brought her closer to her past, of which he never wanted to tell her many details. Charles, besides being a believing man, knew many people and always had a new anecdote to comment on the city's past. His dealings with other residents had earned his trust, so his friends' children were always bringing him gifts with which he later shared with others.

One of the issues that she had also loved about the nursing home was the neat atmosphere with which her peers treated residents. With joy at the end of his work that day he said goodbye to Charles and the friends who were at his side at the time, saying:

"Tomorrow morning I will be here again, I hope you have a good rest"

Leaving there when going to the hotel on the street, she met Andrew whom she greeted with appreciation, when she saw him she asked him about how the day had happened. He immediately replied:

"Angeline, I am now one of the Mayor's direct assistants so I will be a little busier from now on, the first task I should do is interview the person in charge of the nursing home, by the way. Do you work there?

With a wide smile, Angeline replied:

"Congratulations friend, I'm here to help you with whatever you may need for your job there, but I ask you, have you forgotten about my father's personal diary?"

Andrew said in a tempered voice: "No, of course, you should also call your sister Mindy, to meet again at her house to give her the details of what I investigated"

When they arrived at the hotel reception they said goodbye, agreeing to have breakfast since Andrew would accompany Angeline to her work.

Busy week

During the week Mindy had planned several activities among which one was to visit the city nursing home with the aim of promoting the health products that she distributed, for this she had to contact the manager before meeting with him.

First thing in the morning she called the nursing home, they informed her that that day the manager could receive her, upon hearing that good news, Mindy left her house to take the subway, there she would arrive in half an hour in time.

Arriving at the nursing home one of the details that caught his attention that being an old building, she was surprised that it had easily endured the earthquake that the city had suffered, after entering the reception when seeing her one of the nurses, she realizes that she did not know the place, so she asked her:

"Madam, what can we offer you?"

She simply said to her:

"I am already scheduled with the center manager, could you please announce me"

Then accompanied her to the manager's office.

When she introduced her, the manager invited her to sit down and when she saw that she was a beautiful woman, she immediately said "Miss, do you want a coffee?"

After she took the first sip of the cup of coffee that he had offered her, she began to explain about the company where she worked and the products that she could offer. The man listened attentively, taking an interest in some of them.

At that moment someone knocked on the office door asking for permission to enter, the manager agreed and two people opened the door, being amazed to see Mindy.

Angeline emitting a brief cry of joy went to where her sister Mindy was sitting and they hugged. Andrew a little further back was puzzled, he thought he was only going to meet with the head of the nursing home, he never thought that would become a family reunion.

The manager of the nursing home, seeing that they all knew each other, asked them if they agreed to meet there previously.

Everyone then claimed that it was all a game of fate and laughed.

The manager had already taken the information that Mindy had given him so he said that he would call her later to order the products. Angeline then introduced Andrew, the mayor's assistant. The person in charge, knowing the purpose to which Andrew came invited him to take a seat. Mindy and Angeline then left that office at that moment.

The two sisters after they left the office went to the living room, there the residents were watching TV as always, one of them greeted Angeline with affection, she when she saw him happened to introduce her sister Mindy saying:

"Hello Charles, this is my sister Mindy who I told you about, she is Thomas's daughter"

Shaking hands with him, he said:

"For me it is an honor to meet you I was very close to your father, we studied together in primary school, we even sailed on some occasions"

Mindy surprised since neither her mother nor her father had mentioned her a friend named Charles, she was silent for a moment.

Charles, realizing his change of heart, told him:

"I know how you can feel, one day we are here and the next day we are no longer"

To relieve the tension, Angeline invited her sister to sit at a table and poured her a cup of coffee.

They began to speak regarding the position that Andrew had achieved, they realized that he could now be a person of influence very close to them. So they went through the pending issues until they commented on the content of their father's personal diary. Angeline then said that they would both have to wait to meet with Andrew again to discuss the matter, but that it would not be at that time but by the end of the week that everyone would be idle.

Mindy upon hearing that from her sister's mouth, gave her consent and getting up from the chair, said goodbye to Angeline since now she should go to the other end of the city to meet another client.

Encounter with the truth

Andrew's meeting with the nursing home manager started amicably but when Andrew started asking him questions about the administrative management of the center, the man immediately changed his composure by turning red. During the years he had been in charge, he had only communicated remotely with the city mayor and never directly.

Andrew, calling him to sanity, indicated that his role there was only mediator and that a good agreement will reached between the parties for the benefit of the nursing home. At the moment he will have to prepare an administrative report of his management with urgent needs, this would be presented to the Mayor, who then bring it up for discussion in the municipal chamber to approve the resources to move the center to a safer location outside the area. of danger in which it is currently located.

The man upon hearing Andrew's words calmed down and asked him for the details of what he should do since he had enough work to do.

As the end of the meeting they both went to the living room of the center, Charles upon seeing them called the manager and appeared before Andrew, saying:

"Already here the news has spread that you are coming from the Mayor, so I would like you to accept me a coffee accompanied by some cookies"

They both nodded knowing that they must respect the old man's wishes and sat there with him.

When Andrew began to drink coffee, the cookies seemed to him like plastic biscuit, despite which he continued to eat them. He realized that Charles, being an influential person there, could perhaps help him in the purpose of his work regarding the historical memory of the city.
