Goals - A Five Minute Freewrite

As a young lady or man, do you see the need to define your goals? Can you address those goals as short term or long term? Do you ever have your mind racing to the fact that not all your goals would be achievable? Do you find yourself switching sides because you find others excelling at that particular niche?

Those are questions I often ask myself and some friends because I know that a few years from now or more, lots of us would be working towards imprinting our names in the sands of time.

A lot of people who find themselves passionate about their course of study might end up being solid entrepreneurs. Others would be working in a private entity with huge sums every month, provided that they are diligent in every capacity. And maybe others would be core leaders whom much would be expected of in the society. Either way, we ought to impact lives generally in any area that we find ourselves. I mean, our goals should not limit our behaviors towards the people we come across

But there are some other things I think about whenever the word "goals" crosses my mind. I think about the people who want to be successful but never work towards their goals. In times like that, I am led to ask questions like, why don't they want to work for themselves? Why do they expect wholesome grains of manna to fall from heaven to fill their baskets? Why do they think it would be easier for them because it was easy for the son of a rich man?

Even the rich have extreme goals because they know that table turns. So they make the best out of what they see so that even in the next couple of years, their family would flourish with wealth and have little or no obstacle in achieving more.

So it makes me wonder why such people use the success of others as a yardstick to measure theirs. Well, if you ask me I'd say that things don't work that way. Life won't be that easy for everybody. It only gets better that you define your goals.

When you have a realistic goal that you can work it, you'll see positivity in the future. You don't sit and decide to not have goals. If there's no one for you, be your motivation. If you had a poor orientation, read and change them. Learn and relearn if need be. Aim for the best, commit yourself to achieve that goal, and make the idea to reach the desired result. Don't just wish for it, work for it!

Recently I read a self-help book and it suggested writing down goals. In this particular exercise, it wasn't as important if or when the goals were met; it was just necessary to write them down. I think just getting things down on paper can help us prioritize what is a realistic goal, and what is just wishful thinking.

Yeah, right. I agree. I think we should all do that. Thank you so much.

I often ask myself those questions too. I think it's important to prioritize, and start with the most realistic goals. Keeping positive is also crucial.

Loved your message!

I find that on a daily basis if if I don't set actual goals instead of just the concept of goals, nothing gets done. Like say... I want to paint, and then write, and then do laundry. I need to plan on what to do with all of those things. Today I'll paint the legs on my models, I'll write a paragraph, I'll wash my work clothes.

Putting a start and a finish on the task helps me a lot

Yesss! I agree. Drafting plans that gives you a head up of how your goals can be accomplished is the best.
