The Lonely Night

~

Silent night and twinkling stars

The night is young and so are thoughts

Stay on the surface

Don't drown in the deep

on cricket tunes

the echoes loom

into the night

into the dark

escaping to strange places

with different faces

the lonely night never sleeps

stray of the day

no words to say

no one would listen

thoughts of reasoning

floating away to burst like bubbles

no companion

but dapple lights from moon and stars

another time

another cycle

For the only night
