5 Minute Freewrite: implant

"The day has finally arrived when I will place the implant," the doctor told her, and without a second's hesitation, she assured him that she was ready. "Then we will proceed immediately," the specialist replied, putting on white gloves and heading towards the operating room. Mary Jane smiled because by that time there was no other answer. The wheelchair not only mistreated her, but also her mother and father, who had spent practically half their lives pushing her everywhere. For as long as she could remember, the blessed chair was part of her existence, one more extension of her body that ostentatiously denounced her disability and mistreated her hands when she pushed herself and her soul every time she reflected on her condition. But all that was going to end that day. The doctor had promised her for months and knew of her willingness to undergo the procedure, but she could not prevent tears from welling up in her eyes as the nurse led her into the operating room.

The next day, Mary Jane, with a huge smile on her face, began to take her first steps without the help of anyone else. At first, she walked leaning against the wall. But her enormous desire to run, to dance and to move around like other people kept her exercising for more than five hours without resting. When the doctor came into the room and looked at Mary Jane walking as if nothing had happened, he exclaimed, "Well, I see the implant is perfect. This recovery will be very fast". She then, could not stand it any longer and hugged the man who had healed her knee, crying, tears and happiness, she could only manage to say: "I got an implant and my parents were lifted a weight off their shoulders".
