Sea Urchin – #freewrite 23, Day 1019
The sea urchin sat on his mother’s rock and looked up into a golden bowl. The waves rippled on the surface not so far above him … but it might as well have been a million miles.
He loved the ocean floor, his home. He loved his family. He was cared for and nurtured and he had everything that he needed.
But up there. Past the ripples, he saw the underside of boats, with twinkling lines dropping golden hooks. He heard the sounds bouncing, and strange creatures that moved over the ripples in swoops and whorls, so much faster than anything in the water.
His mother told him he could go there, one day. He wasn’t sure he believed her. She said, “You’ll go when it is your time, like grandma.”
He missed his grandma. He sat on his mother’s rock and watched the waves and wished his time would come.

A liberating thought
I am not a writer. I am consciousness, presence, and love. Writing is just something I do.
