Blue Velvet – #freewrite 26, Day 1024

(Edited)

He called his fifth album “Blue Velvet.” He recorded it mostly for himself, in the basement of the house in the woods, which the first four albums had paid for.

His record label had gone out of business. That’s why he did it for himself. He wanted the feeling of music flowing through him, whether or not anyone heard it.

Outside in the woods the crickets chirped. In his memory they called the dew on misty mornings.

He remembered her too, the way she called to him in the mornings, when he had left the bedroom to make coffee, and she wasn’t ready to get up, had no interest in forgoing their morning delight.

The way she languished there like the notes of his saxophone, all curled and smiling.

Hive Stock Images

The Stock Images community is a great new source for images on Hive. I often find myself lacking a photo with the proper theme for my freewrites, and I usually go to Pixabay to find one. Now I can search Stock Images instead … and thank the artist with Hive by setting them as a post beneficiary!

I’ve added a few of my own photos too, and I plan to add more over time. Here’s the link to my first five (bridge photos).

I also found the text divider, by @cryptosharon, in Stock Images.
