"Art With Overactive Fingers" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

Despite a recent flurry of DAD and GRANDPA duties, I've been somewhat busy (in a creative sense as well) lately. Here are a few of the "x"s-and-"o"s that I've finished over the last few days...

One of my big projects---a conceptual piece conceived and executed today---was this digital collage, "Metaphoricalism (001)." Here is a low-rez version to scan (with your eyes or other appendages):

metaphoricalism (001) (peg).jpg

(To see the ACTUAL piece, go HERE...)

Here's what I wrote in "explanation" of this work:

[12" by 12" digital collage. The world is no longer ready...]

A metaphor is like a normal phor, but one that is self-reflective---almost to a fault. ("It's so meta, man...") (Has anyone created a super-hero called Meta-Man, yet?)

One possible metaphor for metaphoricalism is that it's a momentary snapshot of The Holy Fool's mentalscape for that coordinate of the space-time spiral. Photography... (It's wrong to make that suggestion, but I like that it's wrong...)

Another important element of this piece is that I have no intention of ever putting it up for sale. This is an archival tokenization. (If you are one of my kids or grandkids, and you found the keys to my HIVE account, feel free to sell this piece if you want to. If you can. I'm not gonna, though...) Blame it on the boogie...

All of the pieces above where created in the last two or three days. I love making stuff. The ACT of creation makes me happy---and helps me cope. These experiments also allow me to explore color, composition, form, and various conceptual avenues. (I particularly enjoy "minimalism," "art brut," "primitivism," "conceptualism," "cartooning," and "abstract-expressionism.") And, of course, having FUN is key... If it ain't fun, do something else...

HAVE FUN!

This was a very interesting composition, I found the art very compelling and evoked many feelings while I browsed it. I found your description even more fascinating, and now I have the idea of "Meta-Man" burned into my consciousness. I like that you do not plan to sell your tokenized art, but I will click through and check out some of your other pieces. Very good efforts!

Here is some !PIZZA to go to show my appreciation for your art!
