.It has been a couple of weeks since I have done any photomanipulation work. I enjoy creating digital visual art as a kind of meditation in which possibilities are suggested to one's inner eye by the capabilities of the engine used. I am using Final Cut Pro X which is intended for video editing, but doubles as a workable still image editor as well. Using photographs as source material helps me look at them more holistically—for texture, contour, contrast, and color content—rather than simply for the literal content they contain.
In the experimental learning process, there is a pleasant interchange between habitually-used and newly-discovered techniques, which layer ad infinitum according to momentary whim, gradually adding more subtleties of hue to one's creative palette. I find regular geometric forms comforting to look at, though there is also a pull towards asymmetricality in order to mimic organic forms, perhaps also as a symbol of our so-called 'flaws'— when compared to the expectations of rationalized idealism.

👽 Thanks Julia! 👽
great stuff! I enjoy creating digital visual art as a kind of meditation too, since 1988 when deluxepaint II came out for the amiga. I painted strokes with the cyclic mirror function on and colorcycling on and it was deep mediation while painting these mandalas.
Wow, never heard of Deluxepaint! (I was born 1990 so probably a fairly good reason, hah!) The interesting thing is that I started out playing Atari games on my dad's old machine so I grew up with a bit of a connection to the state of early computing.
Wow, so interesting to see the original and then view your finished images! They are quite beautiful.
