This is an anime that you will see several times, and each time you will have new sensations. Something wonderful, even more so for those who like serious stories without luxury. Undoubtedly the most attractive cyberpunk anime that exists, Serial Experiments Lain deserves the attention of anyone who likes this subgenre of science fiction. It brings psychological and philosophical issues linked to human involvement with technology, planet Earth, other human beings and God himself. The anime seeks to generate discussion about certain concepts, often making use of non-verbal communication and knowledge of the viewer's world for this. Due to such reasons, it is not an anime for everyone, because those who prefer action-centered plots, for example, may not appreciate the experience. We are talking about a production made in 1998, when the Internet was still young, and that surprisingly was able to make modest predictions about this medium, such as the dependence of several people on it, as well as the way users change their personality when they are connected, whose representation is the protagonist himself, who assumes different personalities in the network. It is also worth mentioning the similarities between the group of anonymous hackers in the anime "Caballeros", and the group Anonymous.

Sin duda el anime cyberpunk más atractivo que existe, Serial Experiments Lain merece la atención de cualquiera que le guste este subgénero de ciencia ficción. Trae cuestiones psicológicas y filosóficas ligadas a la participación del ser humano con la tecnología, el planeta Tierra, otros seres humanos y Dios mismo. El anime busca generar discusión sobre ciertos conceptos, a menudo haciendo uso de la comunicación no verbal y el conocimiento del mundo del espectador para esto. Debido a tales razones, no es un anime para todos, porque aquellos que prefieren tramas centradas en la acción, por ejemplo, pueden no apreciar la experiencia. With each episode, a specific theme is adopted and throughout the episode it develops, but it is presented very symbolically and the story does not have its feet on the ground, so you have to travel along with it, you can't wait for things to happen with perfect logic and to fit perfectly, because they don't happen perfectly, because they don't happen, sometimes it goes through total insanity and then out of nowhere, everything returns to normal, it's as if you were watching several alternative realities happening at the same time. The elements found in this cyberpunk work; conspiracy theories, big corporations, a big world wide web that is capable of connecting human beings through brain/machine interfaces, questionable condition of the human being and more are combined with philosophical and psychological issues of high complexity, which gave the series the title of one of the most complex ever created. A large worldwide network of computers connects everyone to the same dimension, WIRED, a kind of evolution of our already complex Internet. I refer to this network as one dimension because it is exactly what it is shown to be: it has its height, width, depth and events reveal that time passes differently. Throughout the anime the dimensions become more and more confused until our reality is confused with that of the anime, leaving a feeling of Inception.

Una gran red mundial de computadoras conecta a todos a la misma dimensión, WIRED, una especie de evolución de nuestra ya tan compleja Internet. Me refiero a esta red como una dimensión porque es exactamente lo que se muestra que es: tiene su altura, anchura, profundidad y los eventos revelan que el tiempo pasa de manera diferente. A lo largo del anime las dimensiones se confunden cada vez más hasta que nuestra realidad se confunde con la del anime, dejando una sensación de Inception.

Right at the beginning of the series, we have an incredible scene. Chisa Yomoda, a high school student who at first seems amazing, commits suicide by throwing herself off a building. From then on, strange events start happening, as her classmates receive emails from the girl after her death, saying that she left her body, but she is still alive and that there is a "God" where she is. Such events awaken the curiosity of our protagonist. Lain is a shy girl who knows nothing about computers in a world where everyone accesses the net and knowledge about hardware is taught in school. Her life changes when she decides to check if she also received one of these emails. In fact, Lain received an email from the deceased girl. After the event, Lain asks her father for a new Navi (computer) that is used to explore the Wired. As Lain wanders off into unfamiliar territory, she gets involved in numerous strange situations. This is the turning point of the series, as it marks the beginning of a long journey of discovery between the two worlds: the real and the virtual, as they question their notion of reality and deeper beliefs. Lain begins to become increasingly familiar with the wiring, to the point that her own reality is influenced by this strange virtual world. In some scenes, we can hear a computer-like noise and in others the protagonist herself and the other characters talking in a robotic voice.

Justo al principio de la serie, tenemos una escena increíble. Chisa Yomoda, una estudiante de secundaria que al principio parece alucinante, se suicida tirándose de un edificio. Because it addressed very current issues at the time it was launched, Serial Experiments Lain also draws us in by raising questions inherent in existentialism, anguish over the need for answers, and of course, fragility in interpersonal relationships through the Internet and online communities. In Wired, most users cannot fully represent their bodies. This can be understood as a reference to the fact that people show only parts of themselves when they are on the Internet. Sometimes it is impossible to know if Lain is in the real world or on the Wired. If anyone remembers the Matrix, they know that much of the film created by the Wachowski brothers has several elements taken from Lain.

Surgen muchas preguntas y conceptos filosóficos en el anime tales como: ¿quiénes somos realmente? ¿Hay algún tipo de Dios? ¿Estamos todos conectados? ¿Qué es realmente Lain? ¿Qué es real después de todo, el mundo o la Wired? Ryutaro's direction is excellent, the frames are great, the well-positioned camera games show a lot of what he wants to show. For example, during a conversation between Lain and Arisu, she says that "the real world is not so real", standing behind a railing of a building, conveying the idea that she feels trapped, caged. Abe's animation is a show apart. With bright colors, strong characters and a unique design, he creates a perfect setting for all the scenes. The series has the effect of maintaining hallucinations for so long that the viewer forgets that they are hallucinations, until the moment that reality appears.

La dirección de Ryutaro es excelente, los marcos son geniales, los juegos de cámara bien posicionados muestran mucho de lo que quiere mostrar.
