Munou na Nana, a realistic spin on superhuman powers

Munou na Nana

A school of superheroes, where students become prepared to fight mankind's enemy! Except the story is actually completely different from that. LIGHT SPOILERS ALERT for the first three episodes, but still more than enough to get you interested in watching everything.

Much like in X-Men, but without a billionaire protecting them like Dr. Xavier, a few people are born with powers defying the laws of the universe. When the world cowers before them, many turn into criminals after facing incredibly hostile social environments, extrapolating their anger, greed and resentment which leads to a lot of devastation.

Governments respond with lethal force. At some point, gifted humans are employed on the military, but they eventually betray their bosses to protect their own. A great war takes place. When everything finally settles down, all countries secretly agree to stand united, elaborating a plan to never again use those with power to their own sake. Every single one of those dangerous individuals are taken into a secret isle without the knowledge of the rest of the world.

Led to believe they are being trained to fight against monsters allegedly called Enemy of Manking, these empowered teenagers attend to a somewhat regular school in this small stranded island. Their purpose is to die by the hands of a spy pretending to be one of them. In order to prevent the hundreds of thousands of deaths they are estimated to be responsible for.

Episode one starts with a shy boy who eventually becomes the group's leader, who heavily resembles Deku/Midoria from Boku No hero Academia, becoming friends with a transfer student said to be capable of reading minds. But their friendship's true motives are more than what it seems to be. If you haven't started watching it yet, follow Munou na Nana this season! Episode 4 just aired earlier today.
