ToniKawa: Why Yuzaki Nasa Is The Best!

Tl;Dr: Because he does things!

Tonikaku Cawaii or as it's known in English "ToniKawa: Fly Me to the Moon" is a Manga that follows Yuzaki Nasa was in middle school he was involved in a Truck accident. He was saved by Tsukasa. When he asked to be together with her, she told him they'll be together if he married her. He agrees! Years later they meet again and fulfill their promise, and so the newlywed life story begins.

ToniKawa is a romance story in that starts with marriage and goes back to the relationship building steps that it missed. It's the opposite order of the usual romance in Manga.

Yuzaki Nasa: The main protagonist of ToniKawa is my #1 reason for recommending this series!

Nasa is a genius and a honest person. The guy is logical and direct. Driven and ambitious. (Bullied for his name as a child, he strives to become better than NASA.) He knows what he wants and quickly adapts the most efficient solution to get it.

Though because of his over-reliance on logic. Nasa struggles at acting on his overflowing feelings for his wife, unless he could justify them logically first. (Though his logic often boils down to: "It's okay because we're married.")

You might interpret what I said above that Nasa is a cold person. He is not! His logical side isn't concerned with objective correctness as much as it's about efficiency & potential. He's warm and kind. A great example of an emotionally mature ENTJ!

Nasa is amazingly written as a romance protagonist. He never falls in any of the traps other romance protagonists fall into.

He declares his love for the girl minutes after meeting her! He manages to marry her in the first episode. Nasa beat every other (shonen) romance protagonist in how quickly his romance progresses. He keeps breaking his own records from there on. He still surprises the readers with his actions, 140+ chapters in the story.

When your protagonist manages to explain love using math, you know you have an amazing characters!

What makes Nasa even better is his flaws. He doesn't understand a lot about social situations and the culture side of life. That's not out of ignorance but just for the lack of experience. Nasa knows how to apply communication methods after he studies them. (Just watch this scene.) If something is not in the books he read, he won't be good at it at first. He's also not very athletic & sucks at gaming!

He got a movie maniac as a wife and he doesn't care about movies... Such a waste. Do you know how many of us want a wife like that?!

Nasa is not perfect and he does get on his wife's nerves sometimes. Which also makes Tsukasa shine as her cultural experience is the perfect complementary for his technical one.

I'm sure there are many people who talk about the romance part of ToniKawa. Tsuakasa's cuteness! The mystery of the series and the parallels with Princess Kaguya story. That's why when I recommend this series, I'll always start with how good the main male character is written!
