El reto para el día 21 consistía en dibujar la foto favorita de Benedict Cumberbatch, en ese momento estaba fascinada con una foto de una alfombra roja en la que el actor estaba usando el pelo muy corto y me gustó mucho su aspecto en esa foto por eso esta fue mi elección para mi foto favorita.

The challenge for day 21 was to draw Benedict Cumberbatch's favorite photo, at that time I was fascinated with a photo from a red carpet where the actor was wearing his hair very short and I really liked his look in that photo so this was my choice for my favorite photo.

El primer paso para la realización de este dibujo fue realizar el dibujo lineal, tomando como referencia la fotografía del actor, realice las mediciones necesarias para llevar el dibujo al papel en el que previamente había dibujado un margen con respecto a los bordes de 1.5cm, lo primero fue dibujar las líneas guías en el medio para ubicar los rasgos del rostro.

The first step for the realization of this drawing was to make the line drawing, taking as a reference the photograph of the actor, I made the necessary measurements to take the drawing to the paper in which I had previously drawn a margin of 1.5cm with respect to the edges, the first thing was to draw the guide lines in the middle to locate the features of the face.

Con el dibujo lineal concluido decidí agregar los tonos con colores, por ello borré todas las líneas guías dejando así solo las líneas del dibujo, esto para evitar que el trazo del lápiz de grafito pudiese manchar los colores, comencé seleccionando los tonos piel para el rostro.

With the line drawing finished I decided to add the tones with colors, so I erased all the guide lines leaving only the lines of the drawing, this to avoid that the graphite pencil stroke could stain the colors, I started by selecting the skin tones for the face.

La técnica usada es la misma que empleo al usar lápices de grafito, solo que esta vez se debe prestar atención a los diferentes tonos de los colores para ir generando las mezclas y variaciones del color, comencé con un tono piel muy claro haciendo trazos paralelos entre sí, este lo fui alternando por un color naranja para detalles como la nariz y pómulos.

The technique used is the same that I use when using graphite pencils, only this time you must pay attention to the different tones of the colors to generate the mixtures and variations of color, I started with a very light skin tone making parallel strokes between them, this I was alternating it with an orange color for details such as the nose and cheekbones.

Seguidamente en el área del mentón añadí unos tonos amarillos, marrones y grisáceos simulando el ligero nacimiento de vello en esa área, realice una sutil mezcla entre los colores rosáceo de sus pómulos con los colores del mentón y dibuje algunos vellos con un color café.

Then in the chin area I added some yellow, brown and grayish tones simulating the slight hair growth in that area, I made a subtle mix between the pinkish colors of her cheekbones with the colors of the chin and drew some hair with a brown color.

Los colores seleccionados para los ojos fueron verdes y amarillos que son los colores que distinguí que más se destacaban en la fotografía, comencé con el color verde en el área superior haciendo un degradado hacia el amarillo, para los labios seleccione unos tonos rosáceos.

The colors selected for the eyes were green and yellow, which are the colors that stood out the most in the photograph, I started with green in the upper area making a gradient towards yellow, for the lips I selected pinkish tones.

Para los cabellos seleccione varios tonos de marrón, amarillos y azules, los primeros trazos del cabello los realice con un color azul, pues era un color reflejo que se mostraba en la fotografía, seguidamente comencé a agregar los tonos marones en dirección de las hebras de su cabello hice esto hasta completar toda su cabellera.

For the hair I selected several shades of brown, yellow and blue, the first strokes of the hair I made with a blue color, because it was a reflex color that was shown in the photograph, then I began to add the brown tones in the direction of the strands of her hair, I did this until I completed her entire head of hair.

Finalmente, para la parte visible del traje usé grises y azules para la camisa y azul oscuro para el traje y la corbata, y el para el fondo decidí usar unas tonalidades más grisáceas para destacar los colores usados en todo el retrato, para culminar rocié una fina capa de barniz protector.

Finally, for the visible part of the suit I used grays and blues for the shirt and dark blue for the suit and tie, and for the background I decided to use more grayish tones to highlight the colors used throughout the portrait, to finish I sprayed a thin layer of protective varnish.
